pay day for me 16th dec then 25th jan.

But lucky for me i just paid my car loan off so im £140 better every month.. so hopefully that should give me a overspending buffer for dec/jan
  • Just worked out January for us is probably going to be a 6 week month! Eek! We normally get paid the last wednesday of the month, and since January's last day is actually Wednesday that makes it a 5 week month already (hate those, they take so long to get through), so what with being paid just before Christmas, that's going to be incredibly painful.

I vote for living like a hermit for January, not spending a penny more than absolutely necessary. If something breaks, it'll just have to wait...

I'm self employed so i'm mad busy from now up until the 23rd December, then i've taken two weeks off during my children's christmas holiday. I'm trying to be good this year and pay as much as I can into my business account so we'll be ok. My main problem will be waiting for cheques to clear. I'm tempted to work Saturday 30th December to give a little cash injection. Do I or don't I? I guess I already know the answer to that!

  • Well thank goodness I'm going to be hugely pregnant in January so at least I'll save on alcohol and socialising- NYE is going to be pretty sober for me this year and I'll drive so no taxi expense. Maybe I should do some NYE babysitting... now there's a thought!

DH ges paid weekly - which is a budgeting nightmare in its self! We obviously don't have this problem over Christmas - just every month! I just budget and do not dip in, for those of you on the monthly wages, I would pay them into a savings account and transfer when it's the "real" payday.

  • All our money is allocated to a bill account anyway so I will know how much is due to go into that, and it will just go on the due date. I like getting paid early as I've usually run out of money just before christmas ( should be okay this year though thanks to Quidco!)

I have more control over these things than the bf, but as soon as he gets paid, he tells me to take what I need for the bills (i.e. everything but the £400 we give ourselves each). As long as I have my bill money, he has to try and be sensible about what he does with the rest!

  • I've just checked with my boss and we are ok at Christmas. Our pay day (last working day of the month) doesn't change over December and January so we carry on as normal, which for me is really handy as it means I don't have to be extra extra organised!
