Well sorry but the advise you are being given is way off beam then.
He either goes back to work on the date they have stated, although this must have been two weeks ago from what you have said. As he hasn't gone back has he been to sign on as they will advice on what to do next and give you the number for ACAS so he can see if its worth taking them to court for unfair dismissal.0 -

They havent actually dismissed him yet as far as we are aware, we think they are just hoping he will get fed up and resign.
Is ACAS free then? I have just been speaking to local employment rights people so far, I have looked on their website though, but didnt know if it was free or not

As I'm one of those to have given advice in this thread, I find this comment offensive. Particularly as the advice I gave is the same as yours.Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0 -

Sorry I was answering wanty who said she was taking advice from some solicitor, not the posts on here, didn't mean to offend any of the replies here.
We have not gone with ACAS, but took advice on a step by step basis from an employment rights solicitor.0 -

I'm with the others Wanty, get onto ACAS tomorrow as a matter of urgency, especially since your OH's return to work date was two weeks ago and he's no longer covered by a Doctor's certificate.
I'd also suggest you take a look at the Disability Rights Commission website and see if you think your OH would fall under the legal definition of a disabled person. If he does, they also have a help line; contact details are on the website. Their advice will be free too.

Just had a thought, I believe you can apply for part-time/seasonal jobs online for a lot of the big stores and I understand Marks is one of them where you can do a kind of "test" online and if you pass it you are guaranteed an interview.0

I will go look at that now
I would love to work at the garden center, but unless I want a 2 bus ride journey everyday, I would have to walk through the woods at the back
