They also had 2 'inset days' last week after the week off school, this was another 2 days of my son's education, so there's 3 days already, there are also more inset days throughout the year, the school week is only 5 which is what he missed while we were on holiday.
Yeah but they will tell you they were training so your child benefits in the long run.0 -

So why not take your holiday last week so he only misses 3 days not 5?
As I understand it, when inset days were introduced, the school holidays were shortened by the same amount of days. So your child isn't "missing" schooling he would otherwise have had. He is getting exactly the same number of days schooling kids would always have done, or would be if not taken out by you for [STRIKE]your[/STRIKE] his benefit.
As for the royal wedding, most of the country is getting a day off then. Sorry if you aren't, but school isn't government subsidized free childcare, so if it is closed for a national holiday, I'm afraid you are expected to make arrangements to deal with that.0 -

WHAT!!!! They reduced the school holidays?? Oh no!! So that's even less time we have to take them away! :eek:0 -

The holiday was last year so bit late now.
The royal wedding is on 29th April, not the 1st.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -

Hope you weren't planning on helping your kid catch up any maths he missed while away on holiday bestpud
I home educate so it's not really a problem for me - every day is a lesson in one way or another, and great fun it is too!
I would begrudge them pinching the school hols though. :eek:0 -

You can tell how interested I am in it then! Why is your school closing a month early? How bizarre. If she gets cold feet and calls it all off, will school term go on for an extra day:D
It's because the wedding is during the school holidays so they wouldn't be getting the extra day off otherwise. And teachers just don't get enough holidays do they...:pIf you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
