Just put all my figures in the Royal Mail Tracked Price Calculator and it gave me a price of £3.81+vat per item! My usual cost is 51p/66p (2nd/1st Large Letter). This would price me out of the market more than using the recorded service.

Thanks for the suggestion though, was worth a look. It won't be long (hopefully) before I can use PPI and Packet Post which will reduce the cost a bit.

I never implied you wern't simply stating that you cannot just assume that because something gets lost that the buyer is lying. Also in relation the the previous post the poster suggested that just because buyers could leave neg fb anonymously they would do so just for the sake of it...

I don't assume anything. It's based on a lot of things which includes correspondence between myself and the buyer. And I always refund whatever I think, promptly and without argument.

And I have had people leave negative feedback (in the past) just for the sake of it.

So do you want to attract buyers, or do you want to make it so secure for sellers that I take my money elsewhere?
Sorry, but I think you're missing the point. Ebay goes to great lengths to ensure that sellers have to behave approriately in trading with buyers.

However, in contrast, when it comes to buyers, ebay is content for rogue traders to continue to operate, however they see fit.

But it goes beyond this: ebay will happily step in to support rogue buyers, even when the scamming is blindingly obvious and the seller has placed unequivocal evidence under ebay's nose! :silenced:

This thread just goes to show the lengths some people will go to in attempting to rip of sellers...

Well done to the OP of that thread for getting it sorted.

Yes and that was sorted without any rule changes.

On this occasion yes it was - however on many other occassions the buyer gets away with this sort of activity.

My point was to show the unbelievers that occassionally buyers are actually like this!

The OP did well to get a satisfactory resolution, many others aren't so lucky.

For every one of those I bet there are 10 others that aren't so lucky.

There are some casual (or lucky) sellers who won't see the need for these proposed changes as they have never been scammed (that they are aware of). I admit it does depend on the niche you are in; selling phones and the like is bound to attract more dodgy buyers.

I can't see how the proposed changes will adversely affect anyone except unscrupulous buyers.

My biggest bugbear is DSRs to be honest. I receive glowing feedback constantly, yet recently have been marked down for Item as Described, which lost me TRS. I have no way of knowing which item it was, so I can't correct any mistakes in the listing. This doesn't help me or any potential buyers either.

Even if I did manage to find out, I can't question buyers about what they left, so I have no chance of getting the DSRs altered. As I already do everything in my power to keep my customers happy, I'm at a loss as to how to avoid this in future.

The online calculator is not reliable. Plus, there is no VAT on the normal tracked service, but there is on the next day tracked. My parcels go for £2.11. Give them a ring and they will go through the figures. If you send a mix of parcels and letters, then you can default back to PPI for letters.

Absolutely, they can claim that someone else signed. To be honest this is quite rare, and you get less INR claims if you send recorded rather than standard.
