Yep, because they do that everyday, don't they. You need to get back to reality.Phantom_Avenger wrote: »I was hardly ever there!
In that case, should everyone who works be exempt from paying utility bills?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I don't work, and it ain't my house as such, it's in probate. I was living elsewhere most of the time.0

You have been givin the best of advice to help you and you are seemingly unable to take this in, Once you have paid the Bill you owe you can have any Supplier you wish.
Saying The lawyer didn't do this and the supplier didn't do this ect will not help you escape this bill im afraid. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

Background? My Ma, the original bill payer, passed away in September 2008 and I went to a solicitor to have him work out her whole debts. The gas /elec firm, who shall for now remain nameless, said ‘don’t worry about it’ and very rarely contacted me until Nov 2010 when my mental health support worker contacted them to get it all worked out and get the bill put in my name. At this time I got a one-off bill calculated at 30 quid which was billed as one week’s worth. I then sent a meter reading for both.
You can post on an internet forum, look up (made-up) EU law yet you can't phone/ email a utilities company yourself! Now, the way I see it is that I have numerous grounds for complaint and reasons to go to the Ombudsman,
Numerous? Have you formally complained to the utilities company yet?I strenuously contest the rate charged for gas, as I have used very little over the last 2 years, even during the recent cold period.
Does 'strenulously contest[ing]' make your complaint more valid??
As I understand it, you've been charged £500 for gas and electricity since 2008 (about 2.5 years)- making it about £17 a month . During that time, you have not really made any effort to get things sorted.
I think you have got yourself a bargain- pay up and, once the debt is cleared, move company if you want to!!0 -
I'm just trying to get more info.Complaints procedure is in hand, and maybe I DID get a decent deal too. Still could've been better! I'm not 100% confident of the people I'm putting in charge of helping me. Spent 2 hours on phone today, it was knackering.0

I imagine it is pretty knackering for those trying to help you too.
I am still lost as to why you think that you should not pay this bill, and what bearing your disability has on this?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I'm trying to get a better deal, I'm long-term sick too. My organisation is pretty bad.0

You can't get a better deal retrospectively. You need to arrange to pay what you owe, and then look at moving to a better tariff for future usage.Gone ... or have I?0
