my cat used to pee on my sofa and on the beds   despite having a litter tray and a catflap and being able to wander at will!! i was at my wits end after 18 months or so of having to barricade the sofa up at night every night before i went to bed or if i went out by lifting the cushions up so she couldnt get on the sofa to wee. i tried everything i could think of to break her habit from getting advise from the vets to squirting her with water if she looked like she was gonna pee, nothing worked so i ended up rehoming her i was devastated because i`d had her for 6 years and she was part of the family and a lovely cat otherwise.
i did tell the lady she went to about her problem so she was fully warned  but apparantly after bumping into her last week the cat is peeing on her sofa now :eek:proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0 -
OH MY GOD!! angchris - you are scaring me now!!
i scrubbed the entire area, underlay, floorboards etc with bio washing powder and warm water last nite and then rubbed lemon all over it (my carpet looks lovely now!) and hoovered up all the bits of lemon (i a thinking i should have just used the juice!) and am keeping my fingers crossed today. no accident last nite so, so far so good.
it really is begining to stress me out and OH isnt much help and I end up dealing with it all (and jack is actually his cat) im getting frsutrated with the pair of them!!0 -

A few weeks ago my cat started the same - we left it thinking it was cos the lazy bu**er didnt want to go out in the cold and wet. My boy was at deaths door within days and eventually had a heart attack because his bladder was so full the potassium it was poisoning him. The vets saved his life and hes back to his old mischevious self.
Apparently cats are very susceptible to this - male cats especially as their tubes are so narrow they easily get blocked and infected. My vet warned me that if he shows any problems with his peeing then get him to the vets asap - as things can go down hill very quickly.
A quick course of antibiotics early on would have saved him, me and my bank account a terrible time.
Also ditto on the dried food - a cot of cats doen take enough fluids to cope with it.

Been there, we had this when the cat was a kitten, wished it was only wee
Tried all sorts, vet suggested to put the cats food bowl in the spot, not exactly convenient though.
However, try this.....
Sprinkle some cumin powder on the spot. My cat hates the smell, and will give the area a wide birth.
If all else fails, you'll have a ready marinated curry to eat whilst enjoying the TV in your nice new slippers0 -

Is there any chance you could rearrange the furniture in the room to make the area he keeps weeing in less accessible? Other than that I can't really think of anything else you could do, but you have my sympathies - our cat habitually poops in the bathtub! We've tried cleaning his tray every day, using different litters etc, and always bleach the tub so it doesn't smell like his toilet, but he keeps doing it. We only use the shower now :rolleyes:2015 comp wins - £370.25
