Hi Im still getting the same message that COMBOFIX cannot run with avg installed and ive done what you said last night this morning rebooted in safe mode with networking downloaded a fresh copy from the link you gave me in fact ive downloaded it 3 times and still no joy?

right ive now downloaded another copy and saved it to my desktop I clicked on run
1st message came up installation failed
2nd time i tried to run/open it it said i have a corrupt file
i just cant get it to open on my pc at all?

Download and run the FREE version of DR WEB
http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/gr/
Turn your anti virus OFF
Click CANCEL to its first question (Unless your happy to lock windows until its run)
Click NO to opening the purchase page
Click START
click YES
It will auto QUICK scan
Pess the STOP button on the right (Unless your happy to quick scan first)
After that set to COMPLETE SCAN the computer and press the 'play' icon
This will more than likely take hours (12 is average!), so leave running overnight or whatever

***DO NOT UPGRADE TO FULL VERSION***

reset the HOSTS file if it asks you

Ok will do this tonight in the meantime should i download avira or avast which is easiest to us lol and thanks again for your help:beer:

PS forgot to ask will it show a log file to copy and post on here like the combofix?

Try either, if you dont like it you can uninstall and try the other

There will be a log, but it will probably be hugh so dont even try to post it. If anything is found it should be near the end of the log (And if possible, Id like to see what was found and which files were infected)

Ive installed avast updated it and done a full scan it found 1 virus which following instructions I "moved to the chest". When i installed avast it said ive got nortonsymntac corporate edition on my pc when i go into add/remove and click to remove it a window opens open telling me to insert the cd it came with to uninstall problem is i havent got the cd i think my nephew might have put this on when he set my pc up for me years ago, can i get rid of this norton thingy without the cd?

Ok ill do the big scan (DRWEB) overnight tonight then will post the end of the scan for you to check tomorrow
