I would not stay in standard tbh, we went as teens and stayed in standard and we were just a load of drunken yobs - if I am being honest. We were a nightmare so apologies if any of you go us as neighborus back then. It was just a cheap holiday.
Silver is a tad better but it is, what it is.
The entertainment queues are a nightmare and, tbh, we have never been. People start queueing at 4pm for doors opening at 7pm. I've got better things to do on my holiday but I always have a chuckle when I see them with their little deckchair, food and magazines. Surely no-one is THAT desperate to see BGT or XF non-winners?? :rotfl:
Have look next time you go past Centre Stage at 4pm time. There is ALWAYS someone in the queue.0 -
LOL at the deep fried toast.
It's fried bread. To be eaten with tomatoes on top and covered in tomato sauce.
We only every have fry ups on holiday. I always leave Butlins about 5lb heavier - and we usually only go for 4 days. Ooops.0 -

we all like a bargain, but to blatantly smuggle someone into a holiday park knowing that they are going to enjoy the entertainment free, disgusts me.
i hope butlins read this and ask you to pay for that person
No, you pay per unit - and units are 4, 6 or 7 - sometimes you can get 8 or 10 but there are not many units. You can get the prices if you look online. So we can stay in a 6 person unit but you pay the price of 6 people.
So the poster would have just been better telling them - the person would not have had to pay as they had already paid - unknowingly.
It is sad to say that we are premier club members.
And for my 40th this year, some girly friends and I are going for a Big Weekend, no hubbies, no kids, Spa during the day, dancing the night away at night. And we CANNOT wait!!! :T Did I say NO KIDS!! ON site at all!! :T However, it is going to be weird.0 -
I went to the skegness resort last xmas for the xmas fantasy and it was great. Trouble is it was far too overcrowded, people would be queing an hour before the doors opened and it was hard to get a seat because of this.
We are going to Haven this summer as I find it cheaper being a family of 6. We are going to try the Marton Mere site as its close to Blackpool and the kids love the fair hehe. Hope its good0 -
have tried every date in august and none are coming up anywhere near the prices you have quoted, SC let alone with food included
you must have got the only bargain
F
Sorry flea - have you tried July, our holidays here start in July as the kids have some inset days. They were there the other night and also the day as I checked and then posted. If you choose late July in Minehead you should be able to get it for the same price. if not then wait and register for offers. Another will be a long in a few days. They always have offers running.0 -
blue_monkey wrote: »LOL, summer holidays at Butlins. I have to confess this is the first time we have paid cash but we easily spend £60 a day on food while we are there as it's my holiday, why should I cook when everyone else is having 'time off'??
This trip is for the KIDS, we are not people who like sitting around all day doing now't by the pool in Spain. and a villa? Think of the mess they would make and that would mean I'd be cleaning. Going Silver means you have a maid come in!!Oh, and I NEVER unpack - what a waste of time and then you have to pack too. My friends think i am crackers.
Free swimming with rides and flumes, all food incuded, free night entertainment, clubs for the kids during the day, entertainment during the day (the freaky magic show was fab last year!!) and a gorgeous beach on the doorstep. Cornwall is an hour or so drive. And if it is raining there is always something to do that is inside. For £1k in the summer holidays. Bargain to me
Sure Butlins is not for everyone but my kids will be kids for just a few years so if this is where they want to go, we will take them.
I too am amazed at home much Butlins costs:eek:
When you said 1k was a bargain:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
I've said that to my BIL how expensive hols in this country are & they would be cheaper going abroad, but he said what you've said, its for the kids.
But I honestly don't understand that, millions of British families with kids of all ages take holidays in the med every year, they spend most of the day in the pools.0 -
Come on then........
Tell all of us where a family of 4 can go abroad , bed breakfast and evening meal in the 6 week summer holidays for £1000 or less......... (details from the OP)
I bet half of MSE is waiting :rotfl:
Easily. Two adults and up to FOUR under 19's, last week of August two bed caravan in the Italian lakes, Dover Calais ferry inc. for under £600. No food in with that price, but with £400 change it's no biggie to eat out. That's just the first of the bunch, from one euro camping operator. And that's paying full price, a month ago there would have been discounts, and there will be again nearer the time.DTD...Dreading The Detox.0 -

Plus petrol costs!!
Must be a few 100 miles to Italy??0 -
i dont think its a bargain. you can book a private van at haven or hobourne by hunting around much cheaper for a week. if the owners buy the passes for you in advance then thats cheaper as well.0

In defence of Minehead prices, we stayed in a private house for a week last summer hols. Granted there were 9 of us in a 6 bed house, but the house alone cost £1200. Plus the cost of food, entertainment etc.
But the summer before we rented a friend's apartment in Spain and 3 of us had a week for £600 inc flights and car hire o it an be done if you look around and book early.0
