Molly try Darlows, Peter Alan and Michael Traynor first if you're looking in Whitchurch, there are loads of their boards up at the moment (including one in my road
Cycling to work, is you OH used to cycling on busy roads? If not then look at areas around the Taff trail, it gives excellent off road cycling direct to the city centre, it goes through, Gabalfa, Llandaff, Llandaff North, the edge of Whitchurch, Radyr and Tafffs well....all the way to Brecon. You can easily get on it from Danes court, Coryton, and lots of parts of Whitchurch.
Trains: the tainlines,
Rhymney, going from central/Queens street through Heath, Lisvane/Thornhill, Caerphilly
Aberdare/Treherbert/Merthyr lines go through,central/Queens street Cathays, Llandaf (Actually Llandaff north/whitchurch), Radyr and Taffs wells
City line, central/Queens street Heath, Llanishen, TyGlas, Rhiwbina, Whitchurch and Coryton
Buses: lots go through Coryton, and Whitchurch into the CC, not sure of other route as I don't use them often, the train is just a few mins from home and 10 mins into town.
Oh one last thing, Llandaff North used to be exempt from stamp duty, traditionally the poor relative to Whitchurch and Llandaff, but big brother to Gabalfa. Although the area is changing and my oh describes it as 'upper working/lower professional' iyswim, more affordable than Whitchurch.
My dream house is on Church Road in Whitchurch, a HUGE garden, coach house and huge house - but only in my wildest dreams.
all the best

barry goes cardiff central, grangetown, cogan, eastbrook, dinas powys, cadoxton, barry dock, barry town, barry island IIRC
it is also withink 1/2 hour walk to town
Thought I recognised the name - I used to be on ivillage when i was expecting Morgan (user name was elerio!)
Anyway, we have just moved to Whitchurch from Llandaff North - I loved Llandaff North, just needed a bit more room rather than two bed terrace. A good place to look is around Melingriffith / Velindre, it's near Whitchurch Village, the train station and the Taff trail, so direct cycling trail into the city centre.
Whitchurch has got a great village atmosphere, and plenty of stuff going on for littlies.
all the best!
