Well hopefully.

Not great for customers obviously, but tax has to be raised somehow.
Shameful that Labour had 5 years to do something about this but did nothing, while tax revenues and jobs leaked away.

The tax loss is a drop in the ocean compared to the tax scams played by the major corporations. It is just an easier loophole to plug and will not upset too many of the government's pals.0

I'm not so much concerned about the tax loss, but I must admit, it doesn't bode well for the UK if loads of the companies supplying the UK sit in the channel islands.
Plus, I hate the way they post a large order to you. You get a million packets delivered!0 -

From listening to music company bosses, I thought I was the only one left that actually pays for music anyway.0

Hmmmm. What will they be doing about the activities of the likes of Philip Green? Will action against his type of avoidance be proportional? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0

The super rich have never paid much tax and there is nothing governments can do about it whilst foreign governments are happy to encourage it. Global economics.0 -

Does that make it right though?
& I assume by your response that you believe the government are lying when they say we're all in this together, as dictated by global economics it is pointless trying to tax the rich? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Buying music on-line ain't much fun."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
Buying music online isn't the same as flicking through a shelf of records.
However this kind of move will simply increase illegal downloading.
It may also have an effect on the sales of physical releases, as people who do pay are probably more likely to download stuff rather than order I reckon. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
