Half way through the week folks - I don't know - I really do wish my life away!

Your dinner sounds gorgeous!
Know what you mean about wishing your life away - I live for weekends. Still, this week is going quickly.0 -
Your meals always sound so tasty, my family are really plain eaters and would poke at anything a bit different, and scrape off anything they didn't recognise. And thats my DDs & my DH! I despair sometimes. I really need some inspiration!

Hi Dawn
Its a variation on a Jamie's 30 Minute Meals Recipe and it is really nice.

Thanks. DH isn't very keen on pork (apart from bacon, sausage etc...) but he likes that meal.
Don't know what to suggest, sometimes just seasoning nicely or using flavoured oils / butters can give you good taste without the bits.
We like plain stuff too...tonight we have minted Shepherds Pie with veggies - made with some minted lamb chops DH bought a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't be frozen, so I cooked them there and then and froze them for this very occassion.

Good news! DH has just come out of the doctors and his blood pressure is finally coming down to somewhere like normal.
Fingers crossed that the medication, lowish salt diet and exercise is paying off and it stays that way!
Grocery spends are about £179 at the moment and I'm am positive I am going to go over the £200 this month, but no matter as the freezer is now full again, so will probably be eating our way through that next month (again!!!!).
Had a letter from the Halifax yesterday saying that as my mortgage payment has gone down, my mortgage protection insurance has also gone down. I think it is by £3-4, so that can go with the saving from the washer / dryer insurance to make an extra £10/12 towards the OP every month.
Haven't been on here much this week as work has been just manic!
Need to have a good catch up next week and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Wow! How time flies.
Had quite a MSE weekend except for the fact that I had to go out and buy a new pair of shoes as my heel snapped in half at work on Thurs - just when we had all those visitors! Anyway, budgeted for, so I suppose it wasn't too bad.
Been good and cooked at the weekend - Crab Spaghetti again (always makes me summery even if the weather is rubbish outside).
Tonight is Turkey Steaks with Citrus and Ginger sauce with rice and lots of extra veggies added to get up to that five a day.
We are quite good on that front really, but seem to average around the 4 mark - just to make that extra push.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Had a letter from the washer/dryer insurance people saying that my direct debit had been cancelled..this is such a shock considering I was the one who cancelled it!!!! I had also sent them a letter telling them I was cancelling the insurance!
Nevermind, don't have to do anything with that one.
Cooked last night and planning to do so again tonight! In fact need to cook every night until next Tuesday - when we will be going out for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary! Then we are having an extra special meal in on the 2nd June as we will have been together 17 years that day.
Tagine Style Fish with Cous Cous tonight.
Probably going to go down to the house of our family friend tonight and collect a few more bits and pieces. Need to make firm plans when I am going to move the furniture as I am sure probate won't be too long coming through.
Not much else to report - just waiting for pay day (again!)

The fish and cous cous went out the window as DH asked me to meet him for a drink in a country pub!
Anyway, we had steak, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and wedges last night with HM garlic & herb butter...mmmm.
Tonight is Tarragon Chicken.
Got to complete my mammoth day first. Work, then Mr T and Herr A (got to do both today as going for a blood test tomorrow afternoon).
Then pop down to collect some inherited things (mainly stuff that will be sold at the fundraiser on Saturday) and then go home and cook some mini quiches ready for Sat fundraiser - might be able to fit tea in too?!
Tomorrow will be a baking evening in prep for said fundraiser - after we have taken all the plants and stuff up there so its ready for Sat morning. Might be finished for about 10.30pm tomorrow night (and thats being optimistic), so think I will have to have a takeawy tomorrow (send DH out on a mission to find something nice).
Hope everyone is ok.

Cheers LP, need all the luck I can get.
Have overspent on the groceries this month, but I'm not going to worry. Will sweep the bank account to get the OP up to what I want it to be (especially as DH is now giving me extra money every month).
Must be better with the shopping next month.
Just having a last break before my mammoth afternoon/evening starts (leaving work at 2.30pm to go to appointment).
I am so glad the weather is going to be good at the weekend:
a) it will bring plenty of folks out to our fundraiser (especially as its mainly a hanging basket workshop and cake sale); and
b) should be able to get the washing out on the line for the first time this year!!!!
My FREE buddleja appeared today, so got to get them in pots asap.
Hope everyone has a really good weekend and enjoys the sunshine (but don't get burnt!)
