Got home last night and the skirting board was done:jand DH confirmed that is is 7 years I've been waiting, plus he put the light fitting up for me I bought last August :T.
Still haven't made OP as had some paperwork to get done at lunchtime, but its definately on the agenda for tomorrow - cheque is written ready.
Stuff for friends sons' wedding I ordered yesterday has tracked on £co and its already been despatched...yay! Love getting parcels!
DH called me earlier to let me know that he had been to a car boot sale and bought some meat!?! So minted lamb chops for tea tonight - will ask him if he wants anything for them, but bet he says no, so the money will go into the next OP.
Been good with meals this week so far: Monday was turkey stroganoff and yesterday we had fish & prawns with creme fraiche, cherry toms and pesto with spaghetti - yum yum.
Got to keep being good as last week was terrible as we went out three days on the trot:eek:

Too true Dawn and thanks.
Minted lamb chops were really nice. There were some straggly bits with the chops too and we put those in a casserole dish with some gravy and cooked those up for another time - just snoozing nicely in the freezer now.
Omelettes, Wedges & Salad tonight as we are both going out (seperately).
Finally made my OP today of £185.
So, figures stand at:
Outstanding Balance: £14894.60 (approx)
Daily Interest: £2.73
Mortgage Free Date: Oct 2019 (as long as I keep making the payment up to £189)
Managed to complete my menu plans for the rest of the month - may not be set in stome which day we have what, but at least I know I will have the stuff in to make whatever we feel like.
Not got too much shopping to do...need some fish from Herr A and a bit of chicken from the butchers, but apart from that there will probably be only fresh stuff to get until the end of the month - good job as its a five week month.
Pleased with my OP, so off to update my signature.

Grocery spends stand at £130.32 and I just have a few fresh things to get from Mr T and a bit of chicken from the butchers tomorrow.
Had fish finger sandwich for tea last night - delish!
Tonight's tea is Salmon with cream and dill sauce (made with a tin of condensed soup). Been making this one for years and its really nice.
Shopping tomorrow for catering things for friends' sons' wedding - and had lots of parcels yesterday with the cake stand, banqueting roll and other goodies yesterday - its getting exciting!
DH is off to a motor show on Sunday, so you would think that I will have the day practically to myself - BUT I've got to take my laptop to Dads to do some typing for him! and I've got a nasty feeling that mum will want something too! They are contributing to a book and unfortunately, quill and ink dip pen is no longer an exceptable way of getting manuscripts to publishers:rotfl:
Monday, DH has promised that he will spend the whole day with me and I have got one of our favourite meals planned - Chicken Ciacatorre (probably spelt wrong) with ciabatta bread - its so nice, I'm really looking forward to it.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Take care.

Not much money saving over the weekend, but did manage to get a rest on Sunday as the typing I needed to do for Dad has been cancelled for the time being.
Got my money back for getting the van tax and a new white board for the Charity, so need to get that paid in, not sure if that will be today or tomorrow.
Going down to the house of our family friend who died in January tonight to sort out some stuff. Application for probate is in and an offer on the house has been accepted, so need to sort out the furniture I have been left and the books that will be sold to raise money for our charity (there are quite a few of them, and just in time for our fundraiser at the end of the month).
I don't like going down there really, not because of anything bad, it just makes me feel sad. The things I have inherited will always be his as far as I'm concerned - but I need places to put them and we don't have enough room in the house. Storage is going to work out expensive, so there will have to be a bit of jigging about to find homes for everything. I sense a house purchase in the wings in the not to distant future....maybe.
Will update grocery spends tomorrow and need to take the gas and electric readings tomorrow as its the anniversary of switching and if we have used 10% less I get a £10 M&S voucher...fingers crossed.

Quick update.
Got loads of books the other night that will hopefully sell nicely at our next fundraiser.
Have updated gas and elec readings and I'm in credit!
Cheque paid in the bank.
Took dad to the hospital yesterday for laser treatment on his eye for diabetes and he gave me £20 - told him not to be silly, but he insisted - plus mum paid for the parking. Bought myself a lunch yesterday before going back to work and have decided that £10 of what's left can go towards the next OP.
Grocery spends still to be updated - Herr A shop tonight.
Things to do this lunchtime, so off to do those.

So, busy! What is going on!
Anyway, grocery spends STILL to be updated.
Cancelled the insurance on the washer/dryer as its 5 years old now and if its going to go, we have money in the funds to replace it. We only took it out in the first place as there was a fault on it after the first 12 months warrenty ran out and it was cheaper to get the insurance than buy a new one - it saves us £8 a month, so that can now go in the OP pot from now on.
I have saved a little in my isa this month and I intend to buy another set of premium bonds soon, but I decided that I would just round up the amount i've got to £1000 in total and the rest that I planned to buy has now been put into my ISA instead (if that makes sense).
Finally managed to get down the allotment yesterday and do some stuff. And have transplanted some very small veg plants I got into bigger cells so they can grow a bit before I put them in the ground - for cauliflowers, cabbages, leeks and beetroot - they are in my little zip up greenhouse at home at the moment. Also bought some courgette plants (1 for home, 2 for the allotment) a pepper (for the allotment) some tomato plants for my baskets at home and a couple of larger fruiting plants for the allotment. Also got two outdoor cucumber plants for the allotment. All zipped up at home until I am on holiday at the begining of June and have a chance to put them all in.
Next job is get some more seeds planted, so we have some follow on veg.
There seem to be a fair amount of 50ps going into my Penguin Pot at the moment, so I need to count them up before the end of the month to see if there is another £20 towards an OP in there.
Fixed rate ends at the end of June...the countdown starts.
Hope everyone ok.

Hi MCI
I've not been around for a while so just catching up on your thread. Great to hear that your and your OH really enjoyed Rome, I knew you wouldHave you been watching the Mary Beard 'Meet the Romans' programme, I don't watch much TV but I love her shows and she did a similiar one a year or two ago. I think the series finished a couple of weeks ago and I kept pausing the TV to say, 'ooh, i've seen that' lol but there's still lots more I'd love to see so must arrange another trip back
Well done on your OP's and it sounds like life is very busy too. I hope you get your friends probabte affairs all sorted, these things can be very stressful and I totally understand what you mean about visiting the house, it's so sad isn't it and I was in just that position last week with an elderly neighbour that has recently died.
Your latest food updates sound yummy, unfortunately I'm rather under the weather at the minute and although i did enjoy a beautiful home cooked Sunday lunch at my mother's yesterday I don't seem to have any appetite at the moment and don't fancy anything. I've just had a slice of cheese on toast for lunch on the basis 'that i should have somethin'
PS, lol at how you got your MCI nickname, somewhere in the house I have a very old photo of my with long hair where my hair is deliberately covering my face and I must have borrowed some glasses as they are over my hair though no face can be seen :rotfl: We must be of an age if we both remember cousin it!
Regards

Hi ATT
I really hope that you get your appetite back soon, its definately no fun when you don't fancy anything.
Still some more stuff to come out of the house before the probate gets granted and the house sale goes through. Going to get some more small things this week and concentrate on the furniture in a couple of weeks (trying to find room for everything at the moment - where am I going to put the Grandfather Clock!!!) MIL has a agreed to have a couple of things and the rest is being distributed to people who need it (double bed going to a friend of mine whose has just collapsed and he's sleeping on the mattress on the floor!)
Been a bit lax on the food updates and it seems to have knocked me off track - so got to get back to it.
Tonight is Tuna Steaks with a thai crust, stir fry veg and noodles. Must cook tonight!!!!!:rotfl:
Oh, and guess who hasn't updated her grocery spends yet!!??!!:D
