OMG that's awful. Hope he settles down and the other guy realises the error of his ways.
The world has gone mad.

Poor brother! In fairness, it sounds like the other chap might be suffering from some sort of mental health issue?0

Thank you all for your kind messages.
My brother is ok, a little shaken and sore. Mum was very worried - but has settled down now.
We all agree that this bloke was either on drugs, has mental health issues or both (it would seem the logical explanation) - but it still doesn't excuse it - makes me wonder that if it is mental issues that the system may have failed him (again no excuse). I will continue to keep an eye on him and see how it goes.

Second tax return down and just one to go - might do it tonight instead of tomorrow - DH says I could do with a night off...

So, I am going to try to do MILs tax return tonight if she is available. DH has offered to cook our Roast Chicken Dinner whilst I am sorting that out down his Mums. That way I can have a proper rest tomorrow.
Last night's tea didn't go quite to plan, but we still had the Turkey, but used a bottled sauce we had in the cupboard and we had fries from the freezer - it was quick and easy. This was really welcome as I got stuck in traffic on the way home, then went to see my Brother and then did DHs tax return - (with him sitting beside me so he knows roughly what it's all about) and then I remembered I had to do the charity wages aswell!!
On the bright side, we have planned some nice things to do:
- 'Christmas Meal' booked with friends for the end of Feb.
- Comedy Club night booked for 2nd week of Feb
- Weeks' holiday booked for my birthday week at the beginning of March and we are looking to go away for a couple of days.
- We are also looking at doing a day trip to London in a couple of months to see the SW exhibition at the O2 - sounds good!
It's going to be a busy few weeks with SE slotting in between, but at least we should finally get some time together with friends and just the two of us.

It's non-stop for you and your family! Glad your brother's okay - I've had a less serious version of that myself, when I lived in the centre of Brighton - some woman walking past me just spat at me ... I went into a local shop and asked for a rag so I could wipe my face. She was nowhere to be seen, so I never reported it, to be honest. People like that, as you say, are on something or have mental health issues, but the consequences for other people can be very serious, as you know.
Sigh ....
Amazed you managed to cope with the tax after all that, *and* after a long trip, *and* after SE stuff! I definitely agree with your OH that you could do with a night off!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I am fortunate KC that my tax returns are relatively straight forward (at least at the moment) - so once I have all the information together it only takes me about an hour.
I do need a rest though - I am dead on my feet and my get up and go has got up and bu99ered off.

Third and final tax return done, dusted and paid! Why does the one pension of my MILs NEVER take the required amount of tax?? She always owes about £15 (thank God its only £15!) - but it is annoying when it could be £0 if they did their job!
Was absolutely shattered last night - I think the phrase DH used was 'cabbaged'.
Our chicken wasn't defrosted when we got home so no chicken dinner(yes our kitchen is that cold!). So after doing the MILs tax return we went for a cheap and cheerful - we had a 25% voucher and it was 'Wine Wednesdays' so a pretty good sized meal each and a bottle of wine for £23 - result!
We are going to be good in Feb - we have a couple of nights out coming up so we will save our money for those and not go out for anything extra.
Shopping at Herr A tonight. Meal plan almost complete.
DH is still going to cook the Roast Chicken Dinner tonight, so when I get back from shopping I can just kick back and relax...I love my DH

Chicken Dinner was great last night. I was good and went and sat on my hands catching up with a little bit of telly (where I'd fallen asleep!!).
I feel better for having a night off and I also going to have Sunday off (before the potential madness of next week)! We might even book our couple of days away in March...
Bit of shopping and yoga this evening; so another fairly relaxing evening before the onslaught of tomorrow!!! (Chores, financials, hair-cut, charity paperwork...)
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
