  • Happy Friday folks!

Really looking forward to the weekend - though I think DH has worked himself up a bit about going out - it's such a shame - the more he thinks about how nice it's going to be and the fact that he mustn't spoil it by being ill - the more he gets worked up and the more upset his body becomes - I have suggested some yogic breathing and he has his 'Rescue Remedy' back - so we will see how we go.

Got some shopping to do on the way home and yoga this evening.

Hair appointment in the morning with Mum - a little paperwork and some chores to do and then off out with DH.

Sunday I have some jam to make and a cottage pie to batch cook and relax!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

  • We had a great night out. Dinner and cocktails, a drink in a bar and then a blast at the comedy club! Train home and back home for midnight. All within allocated spends!

SIL has shingles and MIL has been round her a lot so we are giving dinner a miss today and staying home - just in case!

It's grey and horrible outside and I just want to curl up and hide from the weather.

Few chores to finish today as was in the hair dressers a very long time yesterday and didn't get back in time to get everything completed.

One happy mum with her new hair cut - she hasn't been out the house for 2 months and even though the hair dressers is literally over the road - she enjoyed her outing. Next month I'll take her to the shops.

  • Are you still planning on making your jam today- what flavour?

I'm a total jam addict but have never made my own....hoping to get some blackberries this year (picking in the autumn!)!and attempt my own :D

New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
  • Hi KK

Yes, still planning the jam today. Mixed fruit is the flavour - 2 punnets of frozen berries (blackberries raspberries blackcurrants and redcurrants) makes lovely jam - very reliable.

Little niece (nearly 2) and BIL just been to visit - so going to have a chill then get in the kitchen for an hour.

Sounds delicious- do you add special jam sugar (added pectin) or normal?

Bet it was nice to see your little Brice :)

You can use either type of sugar - think the berries are quite high in pectin - I use jam sugar as I've got some in the cupboard!

I based it on this recipe

    http:// http://goodfood.uktv.co.uk/recipe/raspberry-jam-2/

My berries were still frozen when I put them in the pan - it works fine - you can also add a few tablespoons of pimms to the finished jam before putting in the jars for an extra twist (I had some winter pimms on the shelf ).

Don't forget to sterilise your jars.

  • And we are round to Monday again - I really don't know where the time is going.

Jam made and Dinner cooked last night - a little later than anticipated as I fell asleep on the sofa in the afternoon - whoops!

£co payment received and moved to the renovation pot - only £3 odd, but it all helps.

Another busy week ahead - a few deadlines to be met at work, a charity meeting tonight, SE stuff to be done - but it all stops tomorrow for Valentine's Day! and quality time with DH tomorrow evening.

Updated my signature yesterday to the current mortgage figure - quite satisfying to see it moving further away from the £100k and down towards that £90k mark. Wish I could throw more at it - but the CC is the priority at the moment (even though it is 0% and probably going to get transferred in May - still want it to be as little as possible at that point!).

Hope everyone has a good week.

  • Forgot to add:

Tuna Steaks and Roasted Vegetable Cous Cous planned for tonight's tea. Vegetables were roasted whilst cooking dinner yesterday so time and money saved there...
