  • Tiring, but very enjoyable weekend had up North. Arrived at 7.15pm, had a lovely meal cooked for me - lots of chat and wine, before going to bed fairly early as we both still had colds. Lovely long walk round the surrounding area late Saturday morning - a bit cold, but stayed dry - wonderful views and nice to explore another part of our lovely countryside.

Over to my other friend late Saturday afternoon and we went out for a curry...very good. Lots of catching up done - they have had an awful year and just tried to lend support where I could. We had a few laughs too, which was well overdue...

Had a quick stop on the way home for a coffee and a cake (not used to driving long distances) but still managed to get home for about 6pm.

Lovely dinner at MILs and then home to bed. Good weekend, but really pleased to be back home with hubby now.

We have scaffolding all over the house and I think they will be starting the roof today - need to transfer some money to pay for all this!!!!

Brought some receipts to work to sort out at lunch time - really need to get back on track with this.

Going to have a chilled out evening later after an initial flurry of sorting washing and the kitchen out.

Spag bol from the freezer tonight - nice and simple - quick and easy...more time to spend with DH!!

Hope you all have a good week.

  • I bet she's hiding under the bed! We have gone from noise inside the house to outside the house.

Can't wait to go home and give her a cuddle to re-assure her - hopefully it will only be for a week.

  • So, yes they have started the roof - problems already regarding the flashing kits for the existing velux windows - I hope they still do them!!!

There is a good chance that the good price will slowly turn into our expected price - but that's ok really as we started lower than we expected.

Sorted a few receipts out yesterday, but need to put all my figures together now. Have paid a couple of bills and transferred some money around, but still not complete. Probably a job for Saturday afternoon!

We received a letter from the mortgage company saying our term has now come down to 21 years! Still alot of work to do on this, but at least we have made a start and the balance will stay below that £100k now.

Shopping for work clothes later with DH (he's excited to take me shopping - no joke!) and we will be going on a bit of a 'date' after as we are going out for something nice to eat - about time we spent some time together. (Maybe that's what he's excited about!!)

The parts for the cooker should arrive at the service people at the end of the week and I hope to get them fitted at the beginning of next week - can't wait to use my second oven!!!!

Got alot on at work this week (especially as I'm off next week), so need to start getting myself together and get everything sorted - people keep interrupting me and giving me other things to do though!!!! GGrrrrr!!!!

DH is hopeful that we will get the radiators all changed before Xmas too - that will be so great. We will hopefully save money on the heating bills and if we don't, we will be warm on the money we are spending (instead of paying a fortune and STILL being cold).

Once all that is out of the way, we can think about saving money and OPing instead of spending it!

However, I am determined that we are going to treat ourselves once a month and do something different together...this is just as important and our reward for working so hard.

That monthly treat is definitely important! And your weekend sounds lovely - one thread of my genealogy takes me to Yorkshire, so I have some connections there too :)

  • Manic here.

On annual leave next week and going to have limited internet access as the roofers have done something to the network cable and they are coming to fix it on Wednesday.

Got plenty to do anyway with sorting receipts, taking deliveries, visiting friends, doing stuff down Mums, getting the cooker door fixed!, leafleting and preparing for fundraiser. Might actually find some time for myself too (if I'm lucky!!)

Hope you all have a great weekend and hope to catch up with you when the internet is back up and running at home.

Good luck with that! At least the roofers have taken responsibility ... hope it goes well.
