  • Apparently they get the lease all sorted and confirmed and then we sign just as a tenant is going to move in.

They are going to write into the agreement that any repairs will have to be passed by DH first - we get £1000 of repairs over 5 years (but that might have to include a boiler!), so DH can decide whether he does the small jobs himself.

Looking forward to having it all sorted.

  • NB: Renovation Fund figure is not correct! Will update at the weekend.

Nothing really happening on the money front. Couple of quid been claimed from £co - so waiting for that.

Munching our way through the freezer still.

  • Rental is being advertised as we speak.

Will find out next week (Tuesday) when the bidding closes if there is any interest.

All jobs now complete down there apart from Gas/Elec/Enviro Certs which can be done by the company we may be leasing to.

Hopefully on home stretch - but so nice not having to work down there on a daily basis - DH is very relieved to have his life back.

To celebrate we are going out for Mexican and to see Spectre tonight - looking forward to spending some time with my husband for a change.

  • Had a lovely evening.. The film was great, the food was enjoyable and the company was fantastic ;)

Trying to get back into my daily posts.

Counted up 50ps (as I had a few to add to the Penguin Pot) and I now have £40 to be deposited...I know - it's no good in the money box - it should be in the bank!

Quick bit of shopping tonight then I'm having my nails done in preparation for our Christmas Do on Saturday. Not that I have any nails to speak of at the moment as alot got broken shifting boxes etc at the weekend :( I am sure they will be able to do something nice with them though.

Christmas shopping is on the agenda the next few lunchtimes - could really do with cracking on and getting everything sorted so it's not one big mad rush at the end (as usual).

Need to get my posted Christmas Cards sorted too as there are some people who don't know I've moved!

After Christmas I am really looking forward getting the money back on track. It's been a difficult 6 months with all the stuff going on the rental and precious little going towards our new house or getting an overpayment together.

  • A good few months ago I spoke about emergency funds etc...

Apart from our joint savings which has a good proportion of Emergency Fund built in (say approx £2k); I said that I wanted to build up my own funds.

Have just added it up (as I have been depositing a bit of money every month) and I have now got £3367.68 - which is quite good. I want a minimum of £4k with an ideal amount of £5k - so I am well on the way to achieving this. I will just keep adding my little deposits to this - I am pleased on what I have been able to achieve, even though I haven't had a lot of disposal cash the last few months.

Not much to add on the money front - need to sort my financials out again this weekend and I hope that there will be a few pennies to squeeze from the grocery budget into the Kitchen Fund.

Before we break up for Christmas, we should know whether we are getting a bonus this year. Unfortunately, although we are still making good money, our turnover has dropped and until we know the exact figures (2014-2015 accounts are now being finalised) we won't know if we qualify for bonuses this year.

I really hope so (as there is not much chance of dividend me thinks) as I said to DH that we would use some of it to get a new boiler. Our house is quite cold and the gas is costing us quite alot at the moment, but although it will be cheaper when we swap from card meters, we are both sure that a new boiler will make a big difference (the one we have is over 10 years old).

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

Works Christmas do tomorrow which is all paid for - so cheap night out tomorrow (even though DH doesn't want to go).

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

  • Did some of the financials last night.

We were under budget on the groceries last month which really surprised me - under budget by the tune of £40 odd quid - which will be transferred to the kitchen fund later.

All the paperwork has been sent to the company who may be renting out our house for us in readiness. We might hear today if there has been any interest.

Still eating our way through the freezer as much as possible, though this is probably going to run dry by the beginning of next week - puts us in a good position to stock up for Christmas.

Just on an aside - I heard last night that my friend's ex-husband has died - I am friends with the family ie kids etc.. (they are all grown up) - I know they went through alot of hurt, but her daughter messaged me this morning to keep an eye on her mum as she appeared to be heartbroken last night - must be a tough one - although she didn't want to see him again, I am not sure she was ready for the finality. They have been divorced for 20 years - but still...difficult one.
