The house was lovely - BUT there was some historical structural movement and the thought of having to underpin was one step too far with our finances (and the hassle involved).

We are both totally gutted - but I think we made the right decision.

So, in the mean time it's operation 'Increase the House Fund' and DH has decided that he's going to sell alot of his collections (die-cast cars, sci-fi stuff) - I've got some too (nowhere near as much) and MIL has a bit too (proceeds to her of course!).

We also have all the de-cluttering to do and the proceeds from any sales there too.

A new focus is what we need after the disappointment of the weekend (I think we got our hopes up too much).

DH has cleared out his £2 coins and given me £50 to pay into the fund and we are looking at ways to maximise funds from selling the collections (not just fleabay, but also FB group and sci-fi forums and sci-fi fairs - which may be a bit of fun too).

We are going to concentrate on having a nice time when we go away for the weekend on Friday - just 4 more sleeps.

PS we got some bargain Salmon from Mr M - £9.99/kg, and I had a £5 voucher - £6 for just over a kg of Salmon - not bad (will be coming out of next month's food budget).

The pork shoulder is also on offer (half price) at Mr T, so will be getting some of that too.

    3 more sleeps!

    Euros purchased for the weekend.
    DH birthday presents bought.
Checked in for return flight on Sunday.

Just need to sort a couple of things tomorrow and we should be nearly there.

Applied for a 0% credit card today with the intention of putting the charity van insurance on (and they pay me back) - but I don't think it will arrive in time - we shall see - have alternative plan in the wings (charity fed up of paying interest charges on paying instalments - any way to reduce the overall insurance fee and therefore the monthly instalments is key as we go into this new financial year).

At home we have had further discussions over what we can sell to raise funds. I think we will be busy Easter weekend sorting things out, cataloguing and photographing ready to sell. Need to just buckle down and do it now...

Two days till payday and the next increase in the house fund.

Still munching our way through the freezer - tonight is tuna steaks with sweet chilli glaze, stir fry veg and noodles.

    Hope everyone is well.

PS Still gutted about the house, but not going to look now till we have a mortgage agreed in principal.

    Happy Friday!

No more sleeps - off to Dublin tonight!

Bag more or less packed and off to the airport when I get home from work after feeding the cat and leaving a note for my friend.

No money news - not going to worry about it this weekend.

    Have a great weekend all.

    Hey Radish - don't blame me:D

Book your tickets to the Guinness Factory online - you can queue jump and and save a little money.

Take a jumper if you are going to the jail - it's freezing!

We used feet and taxis to get about - but the hop on and hop off buses looked good.

Temple Bar is an area - not just a bar!

Book your restaurants for the evenings as it's pretty busy.

Hope you have a great time.
