Tyres are a nuisance (as are cars in general). Mrs E's lovely Mum was always very pleased that she hadn't changed her tyres in 6 years until she gave us the car. Thanks a lot MIL, 4 new tyres in the last year :p

Thank you - haven't been this excited about a couple of days away in a long time - so needed. :)

I generally have to change one tyre a year and budget for that - but you can't plan for punctures etc... it's really frustrating. Good news is that they don't all wear at the same rate. :rotfl:

95% of my packing is done; non-perishables and kitchen essentials packed; boot cleared of c**p!; torches checked!; cat sitters arranged; tonight's dinner marinating in the fridge.

Should take me about 20 mins to get the rest of the stuff sorted when I get home and then we should be at our destination by 6.30-7.00pm.

Just hope the cat behaves herself - I found a small dead rat this morning in the front room - so copious amounts of cleaning required early in the morning (not the best). October does tend to be rat season!

I am so excited to be going away and chilling for a change - and DH is really looking forward to it too.

Hope to do a bit more of a catch up next week.

Hope everyone had a fab weekend.

  • What a mad week!

We had a great weekend away. We chilled out, went for a couple of walks, went in the hot tub!, did archery (I was pretty rubbish - but at least I was hitting the target by the end of the session! - but it was great fun!) and had lunch on the way back. The forest was beautiful and relaxing - the weather was mixed - but we didn't care!

Cat didn't behave herself when we were away - my brother had to dispose of one dead furry and we came back to 2 on Monday afternoon! She has been banned from upstairs all week! Hopefully that's all of them now - but not holding my breath!

Since then it's been manic at work - beginning to think I am never going to get myself organised again - however, we only have a few staff in today, so should be quite quiet and I won't have people breathing down my neck - so just updating here, then back to it.

Having a tidy up at the weekend - time to get rid of few bits that are cluttering the place up - may even consider cleaning the oven! Nearly caught up with the washing - should be by the end of the weekend!

Money update: £50 out of the joint account to pay for petrol and extra food supplies for our weekend away (at least I won't be left short for the month now). £4 to House Fund and £4 to extra emergency fund - my profit from going to the races last night with work! We had a lovely time - didn't pay for a thing (company bought dinner, colleagues bought drinks) won a few, lost a few - but came out £8 up! Put a fair few 50ps in penguin pot and some change in our 'meal after Christmas' pot, so all good there. Must count those 50ps - I reckon there will be over £40 now - plus still need to pay in HMRC refund (job for next week now). It's nice to have a mid month money update and one that was totally unexpected.

That's it for now - sorry I'm not up to date with everyone's diaries - I'll get there in the end.

    Hope everyone is well.

  • There was £41 in the Penguin Pot - I am aiming to pay in £30 this week and there will be another deposit brewing before we know it!

Another rat incident on Saturday night - this one was alive! Took us 2 hours to get it out the house - ruined our night. Even though I'm not pleased with the cat - still love her to pieces - she's just doing her job!

  • Dreary weather!

    50ps still in my bag!

Got cold feet sitting here at my desk.

Forgot to get the chicken out of the freezer for tonight's dinner, so will have to get another one on the way home.

    That is all :)

Glad you enjoyed your weekend away. I like the Robin Hood vibe or archery in Sherwood Forest.

 about the rat incidents. I wouldn't be very keen on rat removal!

Thanks Goldie - no rat removal is not pleasant.
