What the OP is suggesting is different, in the reducing sizes to make inflation gentler model, the mass quoted on the packets reduce. What the OP is suggesting is that the contents of the tins doesn't match the mass printed.
Prices of food have been kept low for many years, they've been creeping up recently sure, but it's not made up for years of agressive squese by the supermarkets on behalf of the UK's consumers.0
