You'd be better off shelling out a ton for an Orange San Francisco on PAYG and getting a dirt cheap SIM only deal to be honest

if you dont want any fuss or headaches, i woundnt buy the San Fransico. its of cheap build quality and a mountain of known faults but then again thats what you would get for a cheap entry level smartphone.0

Hi,
I am looking to buy an android phone on PAYG that can be unlocked easily, or sim-free, and use the Giff Gaff network. May usage would be emails, some browsing while out and Skype.
The Orange San Francisco seems to be getting good reviews and is very cheap (£80). It can be unlocked easily. However, the build quality seems to be poor (not surprising given the price). Are there any other good Android phone maybe costing a bit more (up to £150) that have a better build quality?
Is Skype video only available on the iPhone 4 currently?
Thanks,

I got the deal daindain mentioned, very happy with it.

Definitely worth checking out the San Francisco on PAYG though.0 -
AFAIK only '3' allow using skype.
And with a better 'built quality' and 'up to £150' you'll have to sacrifice some parameters. Have a look at Wildfire or Experia / Experia Mini.0 -
I think 3 and Vodafone allow voip over 3G
the others do not - have to use wi-fi
I think 'facetime' is something else not skype0 -
Sorry should have said with unlimited texts and 500Mb per month.0

I am not an expert and don't know about VOIP in general, but for Skype the consensus was that only "3" allowed it:

A few of my friends have the Orange SF. Only one of them has ever had trouble with it. They had a problem with their speaker, but its kinda their own fault for not using a carry case.Kate Long
