Finally caught up with this thread! Welcome to all the newbies, especially celebrate - I have nothing to add to everyone else's very sensible advice but I do agree with the point that someone earning less than you is not an excuse to constantly buy stuff for them. I've had minimum wage jobs since I was 17 but I still bought all my own stuff as soon as I did (my parents' philosophy being that once I was earning my own money I paid for any frivolous stuff I wanted) rather than expecting my parents - or in your case your sister - to buy it for me. EssexHebridean's suggestion is very sensible.
I fell off the wagon this weekend - as well as buying 'that' magazine (still no subscription copy) and getting the eye cream which is what I wanted, I caved in to Lush's new body wash and bought that as well. Curse you limited editions! I also got Cosmo at the station but won't use the lipgloss so that will probably end up in a family member's birthday present or on eBay, and the Veet hair minimising body lotion came for me to test out - fingers crossed that does work because I've got very dark hair and very pale skin so anything which zaps it is a bonus! I'm now hoping for the make-up remover with my Glamour subscription if it ever comes and will give the magazine to my sister.
Re: why I buy, I think it is partly the hoarding thing - my weakness is things that are marked as special or limited edition, I can quite happily walk past a three for two (and have had SAs say to me before, "You know you can get a third item free because you bought two of whatever it is" and replied that there isn't anything else I need!) or 2 for £x, but mark something as rare and I will want it! I also think my shower gel thing is because I think "I know I'll use that" whereas a lot of other stuff I don't think that, but this means I end up with tons of shower gel...
Also, to whoever asked about Clean Mary, according to the S&G website that is becoming a Harvey Nicks exclusive.mcculloch29 wrote: »One thing that has crossed my mind a few times since I joined this thread, is how little a year's supply can be.
If I am economical, I will just need 800 ml of shampoo and 1 litre of shower gel (1000 ml) to see out the year, and that's with washing my hair 4x a week and showers 6x. Many books and articles I've read point out how little shampoo you actually need to get your scalp and hair clean. I've got it down to 5ml.
With a body puff just 5 ml of shower gel - a teaspoonful- is also enough to give me a thorough clean
I know mine is a very modest stash but it will last me the year in most things.
You may use substantially more shower gel than me - I know my son does - or far more shampoo. Any thoughts?
Going on what I've seen of some stashes, many of you literally have enough for the next decade but that's at my use - up - rate, not yours.
See I have a different mentality to using up rather than ekeing out as I've mentioned before - for example, I'm using shower gel 'in hand' rather than on a loofah, because I need two squirts to get myself clean when I do it the first way, therefore meaning I use it up twice as fast. I get into the mentality of 'get rid of it and reduce the stash at all costs' rather than savour it, which is probably a very bad way to go about this. However once the stuff is all gone I'll probably get much more bothered about not using it too quickly, as then it becomes more about saving money."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

 eek 15 pages! Been away with work this week so now gots lots of catching up of pages up to do first before I report my ins
Try changing your options to 40 posts per page, same amount of posts less pages - saying that its taken me most of the day on and off to catch up, not been on the thread since Tuesday. It doesn't have SPF. The reason everyone wants it is because the "free" £2 size is valued at £18, it's the most expensive of all the items.
Thats the reason I bought 1 G*****r thought I would get the most expensive itemwill donate the mag to the charity table when I have read so at least some good will come out of it.
Dr R - I dont think i've ever used up an eyeshadow, i've been using same colour for last three years and I still can't see the bottom!!!
I have used up quite a few eye shadows, but its always the ones you can replace and then you struggle to find a replacement to match:mad:
Welcome Celebrate, you are from my neck of the woods, wow some INs from Lloyds:eek: you've come to the right place.
A few INs 3 x 21p tesco wipes, 2 Anti perspirants from Boots using the 25% off mocs from the ATM and 2 shower gels for DS (I dont count these as they go straight to him room and dont add to my stash. Moneywise not a lot spent around £3.50.
A couple of UU Avon lavender bath stuff which I have been using as handwash for the last month or so, now finished and replaced the handwash with the last of the Toni & Guy shampoo which must have been sat on my bathroom windowsill for years:eek: At least it will get used up as handwash it was never going to be finished as shampoo as I have so many others I would rather use. A macleans iso active toothpaste in the can, I have decided I dont like toothpaste in this type of dispenser, it always seems to leak out after you have finished and is messy so WNBA for this reason. A few samples used up, nothing that I would actually buy, even the Chanel one and a few things I chucked out when going through my stuff to donate. Still not taken my stuff to Give and Make up yet, hopefully will do this week, brought a big box home from work on Friday to put it all in.0 -

There is this thing that ' beauty gurus ' do on you tube that is called 'project 10 pan' , you have to use up 10 items before you can buy more. Think this is a good starting point for all you devils falling off the wagon , oh and if you can't manage 10 do a number you can , haha I can here you all now ' finished one item time to buy 10 !! haaha not the way it works , but i think it's a good idea:beer:No Buying Toiletries 2015 challenge :beer:Last bought : April 10th

Blimey, celebrate, now I see where you get the name from! :rotfl:
Right, the ones you have ordered online but haven't been delivered yet - can you cancel any of them?
And perhaps it would be no bad thing to Ebay a few of the sets, if you don't need them all. With such a volume of them to get through, many of them are bound to have gone off by the time you get round to them, which is a waste. At least that way you could recoup some of the money spent on them.
And as for the fragrances, perhaps you could consider the same? I have about 22 at one point due to lots of birthday/Christmas presents that I just didn't use. I religiously wore the perfume each day, one bottle at a time until the bottle was gone, and found homes for the one or two that I didn't like out of the bunch. I was petrified that they would go off before I had the chance to use them, though, even though they were in their boxes in a drawer.
Best of luck, and don't worry...have you been through the photos on some of the older threads? :rotfl:Please call me 'Pickle'

I feel your pain honey - only mine are Bobbi Brown eyeshadows instead, but same principle!Dr_Roberto wrote: »spell eye shadows are individual pigments from an American company and yes 45 little tubs of them , i have most colours they ever came out with.
I've got 36 individual Bobbi Brown eyeshadows and more in palettes, but on bad days I still think to myself, "Well she does 120 of 'em so I've been quite restrained with only 36 really...."butler_helen wrote: »wow so I am on page 8 and loving all your commentsI love hearing other people are stashers like me.
I've come to a conclusion (based on day time tv) for why I need my stash: When I was younger, and not in control of the buying of toiletries, we would run out  this was because with four showers a day, three people with long hair, the shampoo didn't last long. But not working and not getting pocket money I had no control over purchasing more, I just had to remind and remind and ask and ask, my mum would be ok using soap or shower gel- but this made my hair go greasy, which is why now, I have enough that I will never run out, I can ALWAYS wash my hair and body and I always smell nice.
does the above make sense?
It does to me chick. We had Vosene and no conditioner. I felt as if I could never "have" anything when I was growing up. I had everything I needed, but you don't need more than two or three outfits and you don't need make up, or hair removal supplies, and you don't need Jackie Magazine or Just 17 do you? When I left home my entire worldly possessions fitted easily in a single box on the back seat of the car next to me.
So, once I'd reached the point where I had a reasonable disposable income I like to exercise it buying nice things I don't really and truly need! I have a true horror of running out.Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -

It sounds to me (please don;t take this wrongly) as though you are craving approval from both your Sister & your Mum, but it also sounds like they are simply not the sort of people to give this approval to you, but they will just expect more, and more, and MORE!Lemon_Tree wrote: »oh forgot to say on an earlier conversation - my sister and her family do geocaching and they love it. They've got a metal frog which is making it's way around the world, started in USA, they're next decision is where to place it back in the system so that it can travel a bit further.. AND, it's free!

Celebrate, you sound a lot more upbeat today. Well done on passing the exam :j. Well done for counting the fragrances too :j. Do you think you'll be able to use that many? What sort of prices could you expect to get for them on thebay?
Or, how about returning them? Just select a few of your very favourites and then get rid of the rest. It'll be like a weight off your shoulders, I promise you.
I put in an Avon order last night. £7.50 spent on 3 room/ linen sprays. And some face masks (2) and a spot thingy. I'll give more details when they arrive. Didn't order a scrub because I could only see 1 and it was £3.50 for 100ml. Not that cheap, I didn't think. I shall have a look in Boots next time I'm out that way.
Tired tonight. I was woken up every hour today by someone differentoh well. 2 left after tonight. Then some days off, woohoo!
