Dr R - I dont think i've ever used up an eyeshadow, i've been using same colour for last three years and I still can't see the bottom!!!

Me neither, and I have zillions of them! I even have them in colours that 'look pretty', but that I know I'd never wear (hmm... maybe for halloween?), quite silly, I know :-s; or sometimes I get big palettes (sp?) thinking they are good value for money, but then again, loads of odd colours remain new forever and ever. Sometimes the eyeshadows just break and they turn to powder, those are the only times I've ever seen the bottom...

Another thing I've never ever been able to finish off is eye cream, they all usually 'expire' after 6 months, but those tiny pots seem bottomless...

Anyway, one uu, mouthwash, still 3 more in stash. And errrr... 2 ins, a certain magazine... It gave me the excuse to bin my no7 extravagant lashes mascara (the WORST mascara ever!), only used for 2 weeks, but it is awful. Does that count as a uu? :A

wow so I am on page 8 and loving all your comments :) I love hearing other people are stashers like me.

I've come to a conclusion (based on day time tv) for why I need my stash: When I was younger, and not in control of the buying of toiletries, we would run out  this was because with four showers a day, three people with long hair, the shampoo didn't last long. But not working and not getting pocket money I had no control over purchasing more, I just had to remind and remind and ask and ask, my mum would be ok using soap or shower gel- but this made my hair go greasy, which is why now, I have enough that I will never run out, I can ALWAYS wash my hair and body and I always smell nice.

    does the above make sense?

(this stashing goes further than just toilettries though, so I'm not sure what my reasons for having 200 cat food pouches is! :rotfl:)

so, loads in (and nothing out, incase you're wondering where that bit has got to :o)

    Bodyshop:
    1x Dreams perfume
2x love etc perfume (I LOVE this stuff)
    8x shower gels
    1x anitas favourites shower gel
1x strawberry lip balm (I only got this to make up the £30 of the groupon voucher, I've got some already... ooops!).
1x shaving foam (again not needed but it's queen of shaves - must be good right!).
    1x clinique mascara
    1x clinique eye cream
1x clinique lip gloss (again, I didn't really need this...ooops).
1x earth lovers shower gel (This is pants, runny and doesn't smell strongly at all).

so, I never need to buy shower gel again! But I LOVE body shop shower gels and can't believe for £24 I got so much... Although I have one more and I'm not sure I need it... I gave one away already.

Ive been away for 3 days ( And - Julies foal is gorgeous!!!!) ,have read through 4 pages and I really cant face catching the rest up yet - so please can I do HUGS for anyone who needs them and welcome the newbies (even the naughty ones!!)

a couple of INs this weekend - thoguh they were my Christmas present from a friend I met up with yesterday so they dont really count - a travel size hand food, flake away and BB ( all s&g) with a pair of fluffy joules socks and a wash bag,a dog notepad and a bottle of wine....

still not bought any glamour mags yet - which is incredible for me!! might be tempted to go searching out the moisturiser ones though if they are selling that well....

i'm feeling very inferior at the moment with all these make up stashes :) i think if i counted mine up i would possibly squeak about 10 items in total.

does anyone body brush? i've had a brush for ages but whenever i've tried using it it feels like it's scratching me, is that what it's suposed to do? will it eventually not hurt? I really need to do something like this as i have oedema (sp?) in one of calves/ legs which makes it about two inches wider than the other and it's driving me to despair. I'm hoping body brushing will help the fluid to move.

I also have one but don't use it much. I am also decluttering my house at the moment and anything that is not being used should really go so I better start using it. I am just not convinced that it does anything.

Oooh I've got a body brush but never used it. The therapist at Champneys (ahhh, so long ago) used it as part of a treatment and gave it to me (re-assuring to know they don't re-use them) but I'm not sure what to do with it/when to use it??

Reading this thread today I realised 2 things -

    1) money off vouchers DO lure you into shops and you ending up buying stuff you don't need.

    2) I have NO idea long it takes me to use up products so now I'm going to start trying to get track of this. Not sure how - maybe a post it on the inside of my bathroom cabinet stash to say when I opened an item. I have a feeling it's going to be scary but brilliant (tx McCulloch for this gem!) - then if I am tempted to buy - say - another body butter - I can work out in how many years time I will get round to it in my stash - and so hopefully that will put me off!!

butler_helen - impressive cat food stash. I hoard this too :o as I think a few others on here have fessed up to in the past.

I'm trying the One In One Out Policy on most things in my house at the moment. Gave a lovely brown fluffy hot water bottle to a friend with a kidney infection at the weekend in exchange for an 'IN' - pink spotty one I bought. She loved it! Also some unused make up to balance the Glamour INS.

Have also now completely emptied my freezer - took me forever to do this - stuf was iced in and YEARS out of date - anyway OT but the reason for this ramble is that I think the No buying toiletries ideology is starting to affect other areas of my thinking too!! Hoorah!! :T

MoneyQueen - your stash is lovely - I was very jealous of your Satsuma BS butter as I'm desperate for one of these but being strong as I have a <ahem> few others in my stash! I do that thing where you buy one of each 'flavour' in an entire range which looks like you may have done too!! Bit like buying clothes where you get a few of the same item in different colours....
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

My goodness! This thread is addictive - I love hearing your reviews on products!

Now then, I promised I would list my stash this weekend and I have started however I am at page 4 already and it's taking forever! I have a feeling that when I eventually finish I will be too ashamed to post it :(

Also, embarrassingly, I have a couple of INs to report although I did need them (I say that - hope I don't uncover any in my stash) so it's the naughty step for me. Although I'm only new so maybe I'll be let off?!

Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Intensive Conditioner - I used up the Tresemme one this week and I like to use one once a week when I have my pampering session. I suffer from split ends having super fine shoulder length hair and I find this helps.

VO5 Volume Boost Elixir Shampoo and Conditioner - I have a set in use at the minute and they seem to working well with my hair type. Plus they were reduced to a £1 each at Tesco.

Johnsons Sensitive Eye Make Up Remover - Only have a little left in the Tesco own brand one that I'm using and it leaves my eyes a little bit bloodshot so thought I would try something gentler.

Having thought about my stash and reading other people's posts - I think my problem is two fold. Firstly, I fall for the latest products believing that this will be the one that will actually deliver what it promises so of course I buy it and put is aside. Or more likely, I open it and use it a couple of times adding to my growing list of toiletries that are in use.

Secondly, I promise myself that I will look after my skin better and moisturise etc daily so that then justifies buying the products. However, the reality is that I rarely make the time to do this. I do have a pampering session once a week where I use face masks, hair masks, body scrubs, moisturisers, etc. But to get through my stash I should be doing this daily - does everyone else do this? I work quite long hours and time is short in the morning although I am going to try and spend an extra 5 minutes in the shower treating my skin to some of the lovely products I have.

I also love the Pink Rose Candle Philosophy and am going to ensure I don't keep anything for best anymore. This will also apply to my clothes - I tend to wear the same smart but dull outfits to work and I have some lovely dresses and skirts that haven't seen the light of day. I think this thread is going to be good for me!

    hi guys,

just managed to log on and wanted to say thanks to you guys for all your amazing ideas and support, been putting them into action already!

been busy since yesterdays post, instead of going out buying fragrances went out to pick up our new car!! just too scared to drive it, kids defo NOT allowed in it, will be like a pigsty by the end of the week i'm sure (still clinging onto the old car-find it hard to let go of things -same as with my stash!! lol) but have to give it up brother wnats to buy it and need the money

    passed my online exam!!

gritted my teeth and DIDNOT go to asda to look for whoopises at closing time

money queen-thats quite a stash of lush products!!-one shop i have NEVER ventured into (I know i lead a sheltered life!)

thankfully can say i am not tempted by the glamour magazine offer, obviously i have other temptations to combat though.

am working all day tomorrow so no opportunities for slipping onto town on the way home!

thanks again for a great thread x
