Spendless...Thanks for the link. I noticed this one earlier and it certainly looks possible, especially if I had the shorter narrow version. The window in the pic is pretty much the same in their room.

Olias....I spotted these pics yesterday and a few similar. They would be perfect...If only hubby did DIY! Great idea about the desk and wardrobes...just one problem...the door, which takes up some of that wall.

Ormus....If we could, we would, but sadly we can't.

Ok, when I was growing up, we were 3 in one room. Ok, our room was bigger, but then all our family had was 2 rooms (so, parents slept in another room, and that was living/dining room as well, and our room was our dad's workshop as well - he used to fix TVs!).

We had a double bunkbed and a sofa bed forming an L shape. Would that work for you? Looking at room size, it might be possible.

Another option, that our neighbours had (two bys) they had bunkbeds that were folded to the wall during the day, so there would be more floorspace to play.

One more: what about betting a double bunkbed, and then putting another bunkbed/highbed with storage under in L shape. Sort of like this (I used your room dimensions for the rectangle):

the door problem can be solved with a sliding door.
(or maybe making the door open outwards).

I still couldn't put anything in front of it though :)

    Newwen....dimensions are on page one.

Ginvzt....Nice drawing. However I also have to consider the fact I don't want the beds across the window. I'd love fold away bunks but they come at a price.

My youngest (but biggest!) announced yesterday he wants to keep his high loft bed so looks like I need to rethink. It takes over all the room as it is not only high but wide as it has a storage bit beside the bed. It is the robin bed from Ikea. ikear_400.jpg

Just to give you some idea of size, the bed goes right across one wall with a gap of about 80cms t the end at comes out about two thirds across the room. One side we have a wardrobe and the other nothing as that is the door.

Why don't you make a drawing of the room showing exactly where the is the window and the door, so other posters can have a look and see what can they make of it. How high is the window?...

I am sure collective MSE imagination will come up with something!

Also, if the bed is that big, is it supposed to be a double bed??? You may have to consider how 'to [STRIKE]bribe[/STRIKE] persuade' your son to give up this bed, if it takes up so much space, as it is not fair to the other sons if they are only left with about a third of the room for them!

It is only single but has strorage along the bed which is what makes it wider. When we bought it they had big beds as well and we lived in a bigger place. When we moved here his bed was brand new so it was theirs that had to go as they just would not fit. The reason he loves it so much is because a) it gives him privacy and b) he can keep his things away from his brothers who don't look after things in the same way. So I can see his reluctance.

Just been for another measure up and I swear the room gets smaller each time I go in.

I will try and do a picture later (OH has dentist!) but not very good at that sort of thing.
