What they conveniently forget to tell you is that before any of that can possibly happen, they have to actually win a court case against you! They cannot just "register" it as a debt.
Follow the advice above and just ignore them.0 -
I cannot believe that people invent these companies to prey on people in such a horrid manner!! it is quite an eye opener.0

Agreed. Unfortunately the "authorities" are not interested in doing anything about them. Now you understand how they work please spread the word to all your friends, relatives etc. The more people who know the better.0 -
michellepryor wrote: »sorry not sure if i am responding in the right place....it is c p plus. should i send any more letters? what if theirs get more threatening???
Michelle dear, sit down, calm your breath and relax.
Nothing and i mean NOTHING is going to happen to you. Read the sticky at the top of the thread and just see what letters you are going to get. That is all they are, letters, with NO meaning and basis in law whatsoever.
They are generated by "people" that are just the purest form of scum on this planet. So called "people" that actually go to work each day and persecute their fellow citizen's and feel good about it. That's why they are in dead end jobs with no prospect's whatsoever earning the minimum wage. That is basically what they are, pure scum, so don't be scared of their threatening letters, that is all they are, threatening.
They BELIEVE they have a right to persecute you, well they don't. Get on to your MP, the local press, the car park owners and anyone else you can think of. You do NOT owe them ONE PENNY. They are scamming you, or rather trying to.
Why oh why do people in this country now just sit back and take what's thrown at them to get money out of you in official looking letters or tickets dished out by chimps in hi-viz vests?
Imagine if we had this spirit in 1939 !
Do not forget the "people" ie the purest form of scum imaginable sending out these fake invoices are PRIVATE CITIZEN'S.
Michelle. they do not have warrant cards, they do not work for the police or the councils they work for private company's who can only succeed with profit's gained from people who do not know better.
Totally and utterly ignore the crap they send you and be happy in the knowledge each time you receive a letter, it's cost the scum money.
I hate them.0 -
Thank you for that, I think my blood pressure has been a bit on the high side today!! I suppose that i am in a crap situation at the moment with no job that i am taking things more personally than usual, i actually think i will try to notify as many people as i can about this.....it is just pure wrong, and could end with someone really getting over stressed about it......i will now try and chillax!!0

Print this off and when you go to a supermarket park well away from the front doors and stick on on all the cars on your way in. I do.
PRIVATE PARKING TICKETS - DON'T PAY!
IT IS NOT A FINE! YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING ILLEGAL!
This is an information page for the thousands of people who receive "tickets" from private companies in the UK ever day at supermarkets, retail parks, and in any other privately-owned carpark.
We are NOT encouraging anybody to openly flout parking restrictions on private land, or to refuse to pay reasonable charges for parking. Landowners have a right to make reasonable charges for the use of their land.
For advice specific to your case, you should visit the forums at http://forums.pepipoo.com or http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/parking-traffic-offences.

1. What you should know about these companies
It is important to remember that private parking companies (or PPCs as they are often called) have NO OFFICIAL POWERS - that's right, none at all! They give out their "tickets" on the basis that you have seen the signs in their car park and that you have therefore agreed to a contract obliging you to pay a certain sum of money.
2. What happens to people who don't pay?
In 99.9% of cases, absolutely NOTHING! The company pays the DVLA £2.50 to get your address, and then sends lots of threatening letters. In the main, these letters can be safely IGNORED. The only way the company can actually force you to pay is by taking you to the small claims court, which costs them even more money. And they are by no means guaranteed to win! And they practically never do.
The two main reasons for this (among others) are the following:
- Only the person DRIVING the car could ever have agreed to any such parking contract. The company can only get the Registered Keeper's address from the DVLA: you don't have to tell them who was driving.
-Many of these charges are so extortionately high that they constitute a penalty, which is unenforceable in a consumer contract.
3. Can they affect my credit rating?
NO! The only way your credit rating could be affected by ignoring private parking companies is if you were taken to court, lost, and then still refused to pay. But they will not take you to court.
IN SHORT
The vast majority of the time, you can safely IGNORE tickets from private parking companies, they are not official fines.
The vast majority of the time, you can safely IGNORE the threatening letters, including those from debt collection agencies.
You DO NOT have to pay a penny of your hard-earned money to these companies. Remember that the chances of being taken to court are very slim indeed.
DO NOT IGNORE COURT PAPERS!
If you receive real court papers from a private parking company (very rare) then you should go to http://forums.pepipoo.com or http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/parking-traffic-offences for help defending the claim. Do not be afraid to sign up and ask questions regarding any paperwork you are not sure about.
Don’t believe the above? Watch a solicitor on Watchdog advising you what to do with the scam invoices.

THEY ARE NOT FINES
Only the Police, Courts or Council’s can fine you. NOT a private company, please remember that.0 -
so, to answer another question.....N.C.P car parks that are on private land, could they enforce a fine if you overstayed your welcome?0

As I understand it, they can't 'fine' anyone. Thay can only charge to cover their losses.
re: CP Plus
I had three of their offensive letters in the post last year, ignored them all, heard nothing from them for months.'Parking tickets' issued by Private Parking Companies are not 'parking tickets' at all. They are unenforceable invoices as stated by MSE head Martin Lewis recently on TV.
My family and friends now know what's going on in private car parks and motorway services areas. :T
Spread the word!0 -

Their invoices are as unenforceable as the cpp , but can I just say that we don't endorse not paying at ncp on their pay and display, just ignore the invoice should you get one.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

NCP are no different to any other private company, so in a private car park no.
I believe they have some council contracts, however in that case the councils name would be on the PCN and like all council PCNs you would have access to an independent appeals process.0
