Please help!!!!!

Hello, can somebody please help me....i recently received a "parking charge
for parking in a motorway service station in chieveley. for 48 mins over the 2 hour limit.
I was not driving the car on that day but i am the reg keeper.
I wrote to them using one of the templates telling them i was not the driver.
i received another letter from them asking for the driver's details so that they could reissue the notice.
i replied, again using a template telling them i was not obliged to give them this info, and i requested that they stopped sending me these letters as it was harassement.
today i received another REMINDER NOTICE DO NOT IGNORE. the fine was 50 they are now requesting 80and saying if it is not paid in 14 days they will add a further admin charge.
it also states that failure to pay in 14 days could result in the balance outstanding being registered as a debt against me. and that i will also become liable for additional costs and interest involved. and further that my ability to obtain credit in the future could be affected.
there was no ticket placed on the car at the time of this "crime".
I was not the driver.....but having been made redundant recently and having to go through the courts to get my ex boss to agree to paying me my stat entitlements in instalments i do not relish another battle at the mo.
I telephoned them, told them i was currently unemployed and that their letters were harassement, they told me that unless i gave them the drivers name the charge would remain. i asked them to stop and told them i would go to the police if it continued. they told me that was my choice........what is my REAL POSITION??? i am reading lots of contradictory answers online....please HELP ME!!!

I can't understand why you have found "contradictory answers online". I think that you will find that the vast majority of the advice is to ignore these clowns. Could you tell us the name of the parking company as we like to name and shame on here.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Ditto Fake Irish, take a look at the start of the parking forum to see a list of the ppc's and what letter they send.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • sorry not sure if i am responding in the right place....it is c p plus. should i send any more letters? what if theirs get more threatening???

CP plus are well know on here and can easily be ignored. From now on do not contact them again and do not respond to any of their stupid and misleading letters.

    No!

Follow the advice to ignore everything they send you.

(Only if you get anything from the county court should you worry - and if (in the unlikely event) that happens go straight to pepipoo for advice)
  • Seriously, ignore ALL threatening letters. Do NOT call them. Only the police and councils have the legislative authority to issue fines. There will be scary letters from the company, don't open them.
  • is it worth going to the press or tv to name and shame these companies????? these letters are really nasty.......it could frighten some elderly people even more so.....is it worth getting intouch with the motorway cafe who employ these people to tell them that these letters are harassment????

PPCs have been featured on Watchdog a couple of times, but nothing really has happened. You could get in touch with the caf! (is it Moto?), but that's been tried before, with no avail.
