Congratulations on being healthy, able to work, not forced into vacating your home due to redundancy etc. Well done to you. However, this board is for helping people, not bragging at how perfect and wonderful you are. I'm sure you have other flaws which the OP's mother does not.

ETA: Personally, I'm very glad that I live in a country that would make sure I could carry on living in decent accommodation should any of the above happen to me, and that my kids and I would not be out on the street.

    Well said.

oh ok i see what you mean now but i dont think you need to worrie about that now cus that has changed and alot of people have found themselfs in a very bad situation because of this condem move

Mainly those who took a high interest rate as they had a bad credit rating, or those who MEWed* on their house to buy new cars and pay for holidays.

I don't see why the workers should pay for their treats or their poor credit ratings (also caused by buying themselves things they couldn't afford?).

*MEWed - Morgate Equity Withdrawel - a fancy name for taking a loan which is secured against your house.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

well i think you made your point clearly about how you feel about contributing to people less well off than yourself and clearly you would make an ideal candidate for the condems

i think clearly you are so well versed in money management that you should give us a top ten list of what and what not to do so the many 1000s dont get into trouble and claim off the state so not to burden people like yourself

Well done Andy - another insightful gem to advance this thread. The OP must be thrilled at how helpful it's been. :T:rotfl:

I have already made it clear, many times before, that I love the idea of the welfare state; as a safety net. Too many are now seeing it as a way of life.

Many younger workers can't afford houses of their own, but you seem to think it is ok for them to pay for the mortgages for the long term, of those that don't work.

The rents were definitely pushed up my lha, soon as it came in private landlords pushed there rents up in line with lha, the problem now is that on 3 out of 10 properties will be affordable for benefit claimants. The government has sort of engcouraged homelessness.

Someone on here was saying that the same has happened with the childminding costs.
