Are you being prosecuted for having no insurance, did the officer let you drive away after he stopped you or did they impound your car.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
So I grabbed the phone and told them to get out of the house again, she said no and laughed and said "so your going to call the police are you, you've already been so silly" or something like that. So I called them
So when you dialled 999 what happened? Did the police turn up immediately and how are they dealing with your call?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Could you bolt your back door in future? It should be easy enough to stop people entering without your permission.0

If this is true I would be making an official complaint to the police department. The officer would have no right to disclose that to your parents!
Absolutely! That is outrageous.
My husband has a friend in Canada. She contacted him a few months back because her son (over 18) is in the UK and got arrested. I'm not sure how she found out he was arrested (assume he called) but she didn't know where he was being held or what he was charged with. Hubby asked another friend of his who works for the police what the lady should do and who she should contact. He also asked if the police contact could find out where the person was. They said absolutely not - they would lose their job if they gave out that information.
Make an official complaint about the police officer who revealed the information to your parents.0 -

It doesn't add up, does it?
The OP says she just got a ticket for this and the PO waited while she added herself to her OH's insurance - in an untaxed car!
I don't believe it.0 -
If she had been caught with no insurance she would have had to walk home and her car would have been impounded.
And she would have been prosecuted for no tax and definitely no insurance.
I think we have a romancer here who thinks we are stupid enough not to see through it all.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Basically, I got pulled over on friday morning, had a rear brakelight out and OH had let his tax run out. Then found out my insurance wasnt valid to drive his car *doh!* so I got a ticket which was a pain but my own fault completly, I hadnt realised it didnt cover me as my old policy did...
So traffic officer is friends with my police officer parents and rings them this morning to tell them he has pulled me over!! I am over 18 so no need for them to be informed, and they've come barging round about the ticket shouting about it upsetting the children and not leaving when asked too, so I told them if they didnt leave I'd call 999 they still wouldnt leave so I did and they then caused more of a scene and left.
you know what? due to all the hassle its caused you, i'd be writing to that traffic officers supervisor and telling them what he's done - thats bang out of order!
keep your doors locked in future, if your parents can't get in your house they'll soon get fed up ranting through the letterbox. i'm really angry on your behalf, what on earth has it got to do with them - your mistakes, you'll sort them out, surely?0 -
no insurance they do allow you to call and sort it while you are there (that much was on the programme on the bbc on traffic police.. what can I say, I was bored.. anyway the guy on there had his bank cards declined and couldn't pay so they impounded his car)
no tax.. depending on how overdue it is they allow you 7 days to take your documents inc tax in but maybe the OH was trying to skip paying a month and hope he didn't get caught.. that worked. When my stepdad was stopped (2 days after tax ran out he was just taking car to be MOT'd as that ran out the week before and he couldn't get it in sooner) he was told to just take all the documents into the nearest station within 7 days if he didn't then he would be fined.
Light out.. they usually just tell you to get it sorted and trust you will.. stuff like that isn't worth the paperwork and most people are genuinely not aware so are thankful and gracious.. it is the ones who get snotty who obviously knew about it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Tell me I'm reading this wrongly. You called the emergency services by dialling 999 - because your mother & step-father were shouting at you and making you and the children cry? How is that a life-threatening situation?
From what you say, it would appear that you come from a family who over-react to situations!
I realise that your mental condition is somewhat fragile - but for heaven's sake - start to do something about it! And if you do not want your parents to come uninvited into your house, lock the doors.0
