Virus or Malware while browsing eBay

Could you download a trial of Kaspersky anti virus.
The trial lasts a month and will at least clean up your machine.

If its sytem tool it totally messes up all your anti virus software so you can't run them I had this is sons netbook last night. Couldn't start up insafe mode or anything. I followed these instructions to get rid of it. Took me till 2am this morning but it worked and I am now using his netbook at the moment. Good luck its a nightmare.

I have had the system tool problem today - interesting enough, the last site I was on last night was ebay. closed down, re-opened this morning, went into gmail, opened an ebay email there, closed that and went to hotmail and all hell broke lose!
followed the instructions given in the post above (also posted on the techie forum) and it has worked a treat, although took me a couple of hours to do it. I have no technical expertise at all so anyone should be able to deal with it! Hope that helps.

yeah i have had that same thing for the last 2 days while on ebay and my anti-virus is stopping it how can ebay not be aware of this

I had this also.

Unfortunately when I then did a quick Anti-virus scan it was taking as long as 30 minutes to scan each copy of svchost.exe and Internet Explorer would not finish requests to clear temporary internet files sticking on removing add on data so I suspected Malware on my PC.

I spent a very long time looking for it without success. Anti malware and anti virus tools reported no known issues. A generic malware tool did report areas of concern but without having results of a known clean system scan to compare with this meant nothing to me as I had not used the tool before. I have now fixed the anti-virus scan and Internet Explorer issues. I then spotted other reports of the issue on ebay community boards so decided to wait for more information to appear.

I would be surprised if my PC had System Tool 2011 as this is well known Malware and what I was seeing looked either like new Malware on my PC or a server side issue (perhaps from advertising on the sites). It may also be a false positive where there is nothing wrong. However I was not rebooting into safe mode before scanning so was not doing things in the totally correct way however did not look like System Tool 2011 in any way.

EDIT: If a scan is negative waiting for more information to appear maybe the best thing to do.
