Weekly Flylady Thread 28th February 2011

I've just spoken to my cousin who is an estate agent, and decided what my terms are for if/when the agent gets back in touch with me. I'm NOT signing a full contract for a one-off (or paying the full fee as she won't have done more than make a couple of phone calls!).
Not going to the gym tomorrow as I'm still snotty, but have letters to post and hopefully it will stop raining for long enough for me to do some gardening/chop kindling/go to the bottle bank.
Froddy - I turned one of my spare rooms into an office, and have my computer and a CD player up there - but if you have music on your PC you don't even need thatand you could keep one lot of furries up there for company. I know working from home means its a bit different for me, but I do like the fact that all my paperwork (personal and work) is out of the way and I can shut the door on it. The sitting room is then a haven of tidyness and calm :rotfl: (actually, it is today, as I cleared all the cr*p out before my visitors arrived... you can't get into the study though
or the spare room). Its definitely worth doing. It does mean that some days I don't go into the sitting room, and sometimes I do take the laptop in there for work (particularly if its cold upstairs), but generally it means I have separate work and non-work spaces.
I'm in this week. I need to maintain the status quo downstairs and sort out upstairs as a. I may have a viewing this week and b. my mother arrives on Thursday (far more worrying!). Bathroom is OK, bedroom is OK but needs a bit of a tidy and hoover/dust. Spare room has junk in it and study is a tip.
As a helpful flylady has solved my voice coaching problem, I thought I'd check whether anyone here knows a good French or Italian teacher as I need conversation classes, or singing teacher... I'm just trying to work out whether I can do any of them online. I do have CDs for French & Italian, but they aren't quite the same. Do any of the language teachers have an opinion as to whether audio books might work? Just listening to something interesting, even if I don't always understand all of it, must be better than the stupid tapes...
I have a work trip to Milan in June, so might see whether I can find a weekend course that I could do instead of coming home straight away... Sadly I don't think they'll give me a month off to go to language school in Florence or Paris which is what I'd really like. Although I could see if my boss would send me to a different office for a while...0 -

Got it! Also got several others if anyone wants one...
Also - what is everyone else putting on their spring-cleaning list? (this is a new concept for me). I have this week off so want to do as much as possible. I'm afraid the kitchen is a lost cause for cleaning till the end of the week as DH is off work too and will be working in there and making it very messy but I suppose I can tackle cupboards, oven again  etc!0 -

I did once ask on the thread what our other teachers did with all their work - I think it was msgnomey who said a huge memory stick! I think I'm not that confident that I won't lose some great resources if I just have a copy on the pc...
I usually have lots of stuff at home, but often not what I need.I use a memory stick more now, but most of the files are also on the network in school, so it's fairly safe. I'm trying to avoid carrying too much stuff around, as I have to take the laptop with me every day and it's heavy enough. I tried keeping the computer desk in our bedroom, but it was too cramped to work, so it's back in the dining room (where it's too messy to work). I'll get there one day. Hope your week goes well.

Welcome, tbh I'd concentrate on enjoying the baby whilst you can. The cleaning will be there forever but the baby will only be like this once xAlso - what is everyone else putting on their spring-cleaning list? (this is a new concept for me).
For me I like to pull out furniture and hoover behind and wipe all the paintwork.
Take cushions outside and give them a good bang together
Do the same with rugs in feasible
When the weather gets better for drying then washing of curtains, cushion covers, duvets, pillows etc. Maybe carpet cleaning plus sweeping of front step, washing the outside of the front doors/frames
It will depend on what you do regularly. Things like sorting out the ladder cupboard, cleaning out the freezer I do on a fairly regular basis so don't need doing.
What are your plans for sorting cupboards, drawers, wardrobes? I've just sorted all the kids clothes so I know what they will need me to buy once the weather gets warmer. Other cupboards etc I do as and when throughout the year.
Hope that helps a bit
Ironing all done. Going to finish in the kitchen and off to bed. Two of the boys back to school tomorrow and I need to go in an invigilate for a a while in the afternoon. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Could I join too please?? I need some order in my life....Jo x:A0

I need to go and put some laundry away so I can make my bed, and then I think I'll unload some (or possibly all) of the stuff from the dishwasher while making hot water bottles. I don't want to keep waking up because I'm cold like I did last night!
Tommorrow I need to:
Post letters
Plant stuff if not raining
Chop kindling if not raining
Go to bottle bank if not raining
Submit my objectives to my boss
Do the kitchen list (should be relatively easy for once)
Hoover upstairs
File some more paperwork
Start filling charity bags for Wednesday
Think that's enough for the moment...0
