  • Hi everyone,

I've decided to be brave, stop lurking and start posting.

I'm struggling to stay on top of anything since my daughter was born 4 months ago. She's absolutely perfect (spot the biased mother) although is what health visitors term a 'demanding' baby and doesn't like to be put down or sleep during the day (or night for that matter).

My worst issue is washing. We're using washable nappies and the amount of nappies we get through is amazing. We also have no drier so I'm struggling to dry the clothes/nappies too.

I'm determined to make an impact on things but am only going to aim for babysteps - level one.

Right now I'm holding my sleeping baby. I'm too nervous to put her down because everytime I do she wakes up. 5 more minutes and I will start on tasks to do.

I have one of those demanding babies too! :D After having 2 laid back boys who would happily sit in a chair while i got on with jobs i find dd a real handfull. Shes now 17mths and just wanted to say it does get easier as they get older. She will watch tv for short periods so i can run and do a job. The only way i coped when she was younger was a wrap/sling. I still use them now as she has fussy days and has never gone in a buggy and i have to carry her around the shops and anywhere else i go.
She never laid down either and doesn't like the car, she has random sreaming fits going down the motorway lol. I'm used to it now but just wanted to let you know you aren't alone and they do chill out a tad later :)
I have even learnt to lay her down for a nap now very slowly on the bed so i can have a quick break.
I tend to do the jobs when dh is around so he can take her although sometimes she only wants to be with me anyway!
We quickly gave up on the cloth nappies as i couldn't wash/dry them quick enough either. :o
  • evening everyone, I have had a very productive first day, tried to get as much done as possible as baby has injections tomorrow so i may not be doing much cleaning and just giving cuddles :)

when does the next days list go up ?
  • After failing badly last week, this week I am trying a new approach. I will spend ONE HOUR each day doing the tasks for the day. At the end of the hour I will stop.

Kitchen was definitely easier than last week's 3 hour marathon. I managed to do the following in just over an hour and I drank a coffee whilst cleaning with the other hand!

    Level One
    Declutter and wipe worksurfaces
    Sweep and mop the floor

    Level Two
Wipe fronts of units and large appliances
Scrub out the sink and polish the taps

    Level Three
Wipe over the oven and hob and fridge
Clean out the cupboard with the pet food/miscellaneous items! - don't have a pet so did the baking cupboard instead.

    Extras
Scrub tiles - don't have any!
    dust and deweb!
    Wash small appliances and replace
wipe the fluffy tops of appliances - all built in so no fluffy tops!

I think that's quite alot and I'm dead chuffed with myself. The kitchen doesn't really look much better but that's more to do with the 3 kids than the cleaning :rotfl:

  • Mother has gone home !

DS is fine - having cycled he nearly had a run-in with some yobbos down by the river - made him realise how much he appreciates the car!

I am so :mad::mad: I could scream! I took DS's passport application into the main post office last week and they did check and send on it!

A letter arrived today saying the application was incorrect and they would have to make 'further enquiries'!

Anyone any idea what this means? They have given a phone number to ring up to get the check and send money refunded...but they haven't told us what's wrong with the application, nor have they returned it!

    Evening all

Apologies in advance if I have missed anything but here goes....

Thank you to the ladies for the thread
Grateful - when is your due date, can't be too far away??
Mumof2 - glad the result was not too bad and I laughed at you making DH buy a helmet in the sales - men should always listen!!
Pigpen - did DD have a reason for storing those items
Crafty - lol out your comment re Mumof2's DH
Katiecat - take a deep breath and chill - will you be this upset about it in 10years, if not, calm down about it if poss and go in tomorrow with a huge [even if a false one] smile and see if the day gets better
Jinky - I sat DD on the worktop too - only way I could get her to stop crying for me, is your Gran ok?
CY - can't answer your query but did wonder if you could get the "checking fee" refunded

Flying today - not alot, we spent time at the allotment flying there

My kiddies school has just been OFSTEDed and according to my daughter is got Satisfactory - am I right in thinking that this is 1 up from poor - last time they got Good - going tomorrow to have a look at another school for DS [DD has only got till July and then she finishes there]

Waiting for the email tomorrow to say which Secendary School DD will be at in September - nervous about it cos there are lots of mistakes made by the Council every year and it will be just our luck that they get it wrong for us

    Have a nice evening all

Love and hugs to all who want or need one

Hi to all the newbies and hugs for the those struggling with the little ones (and those battling with bigger ones) xx

Will put a list together once tomorrows is up....no rush though!!! I am out of sync due to half term, mad girls weekend and inset day!!
Plus, tomorrow for school we need daffodils to decorate the school and Welsh costumes. Wed is World Book Day so need a Welsh book character outfit plus they need to take their uniform to go to the local church to sing in the pm. Friday is the school Eisteddfod....not sure if we have to do anything for that yet.....no doubt we will have a text on Thursday to let us know!!!!
