  • This is all very encouraging. I have been spending to make myself feel better for at least 3 years now. Would clear off my cards, then go out and spend again to reward myself.
I've recently split with my partner and it triggered it again. I had to admit defeat and tell my mum, she was obviously disappointed but it was such a relief to get it all out. We've traced my behaviour back to losing my grandad who I was very close to, and not really dealing with it ( I went on a shopping spree for funeral clothes and makeup!).
It seems a long and daunting process, and I am still getting urges, but I will get there. Have a loan, a credit card and a store card to clear off then I am going to try and put some money into savings.
I am so glad i'm not the only one who has these problems, no one else I know seems to do this.
  • Just caught up on this, well done Amelia!

Although we're debt free at the minute, I keep reading the board to keep me motivated to stay that way. It only takes a small slip like a holiday and we'll be back into the red. I want a new car, new clothes and a holiday like everyone, but I need to be debt free. It is a state of mind and I do get my buzz from being sensible and motivated to keep DF.

Good luck with the road ahead x

Motivation is like showering, you have to do it daily...

So every time you feel weak Amelia, keep popping onto these boards like herewegoagain and myself. I find popping in here keeps me on the straight and narrow.

You are doing really well so you should be really proud of yourself xx

I have been away for so long!! I can't believe how the time has gone, but I have been busy squirrelling away the debt. I am going to update my signature tomorrow - and get back to task. I have not been working as hard as I should and I still want to hit the October 2012 target I set myself - although that might have to be extended a bit :(

Good night world- updates tomorrow x

OK, I am up to date, and raring to go again. When i was going through my finances, i realised that i have really taken my foot off the pedal over the last few months. All i feel i have achieved is moving debt around. I borrowed money off my parenets to pay off my car loan - but at least the bank of mum&dad won't charge me interest, so thats for the best! I am going to keep updating every month and I am really determined

Here we go again - another month passed, and another pay day - which means more debts paid, and the signature is updated. I have just gone through the £7,000 mark - which feels great. I am more than half way through my deby from when i started on the site :j

I haven't managed to pay as much as i thought this month, as i had an 'incident' in my car - my fault! and have paid a high excess this month, but i still have paid something, and didn't put the excess on my credit card - as the old me would have done!

    See you next month x

Well done Amelia, 2013 is not that far away then think how much you will be able to save (or spend!) without getting into debt.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Nearly there now honey. Been following your story and its helping my motivation! Thank you L2B.x

  • Thanks both! I am still feeling so positive, but may be extending my debt free date slightly, after some book balancing at the weekend! But hopefully only by a couple of months. I feel really determined, especially when I read back to my first post, and remember that I have already halved my debt since then.

Thanks for the supportive messages though, it really helps x
