Morning Bonnington
Ramble away. Its hard to keep up with everything isn't it. So many things need sorted and it can wear you out. Keep strong and keep going.
I have had the same problems with an emergency cover as we live in a very rural area. DAS couldn't find an engineer for our oil heating for 3 working days. It was minus something and we were absolutely freezing. Ridiculous isn't it.0 -
Hi Bonnington,
I have just finished reading your entire diary. I must say I have found it compelling, inspiring, and dedicated. It's kept me going on many a nightshift, sometimes the patients have just had to wait!
I did at first think you were female becuase of the housework you do, but then I thought you username was from the mountineer Chris Bonington, but then realised the spellings were different. Then I thought about Bonny Scotland, then I read on and you said you had a beard and I was back thinking of Chris Bonington again.
Anyway, not sure why I find your diary a compelling read, as I am your opposite, single, no kids, and in rented accomodation, so no utliity/fuel bills to worry about, or the endless but necessary expense running a household and a car brings.
Your journey and progress so far has been one of, two steps forward and one step back. You've done well generating additional income from ebay and you have been relentless in your efforts with the surveys. Some highs for me were, your daughter's academic success and the financial awards, you must be proud. The reduction in the fuel DD was amazing, the new boiler and it's problems not so amazing. I also had to laugh when Granny2 suggested you use noddle for a free credit report and said that is where she finds all of her 'predators listed!' Also, when you said in a post you were 'weeding the shingle' you set that up by earlier saying your FIL had laid it but hadn't gotten rid of the grass/weeds underneath properly and using the mad icon.
I am an impatient person and want my own debts cleared asap, but I realise now I have it easy as I don't have a family and household to worry about just me, you're doing really well and just keep going.

Hi Bonnington
Its tough when the spending happens one after the other. We feel a bit out of control. Its done now so put it to your total and tighten your belt again. Congratulations on your credit score. That is a success. WELL DONE:)

Can you not keep the Cahoot account open and use one for bills and one for spends? Or does there have to be a certain amount going through that account too?0

Hi Bonnington,
How many months in a row do Santander have to win worst customer service, before they improve?! Just before Santander took over Alliance and Leicester I considered swithing to A&L for their £100 welcome, so glad I didn't £100 just isn't worth all the hassle.
I hope you get it sorted.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
Hi Bonnington
Don't be too hard on yourself. Tighten that belt this month and you will see a difference next month. Why don't you join us on the Oct grocery challenge. You should be able to cut your bill by 1/4 now your daughter has gone to uni.
Take care and keep posting. I love to read your diary.0 -
Oh what a pain
Hope it gets sorted at the least possible cost to you.
I so hear you on the holiday front. Mr Minx has really felt the lack of one this year as his job is getting more and more high powered and stressful - it's finally sinking in for him that if we didn't have the credit cards we could afford to go somewhere hot for a fortnight each year.0 -
Hello Bonnington
Here is the challenge for October. I don't know how to copy it as a link but just type this in on the Forum Search
October 2012 Grocery Challenge
I like this challenge, makes you think what you are really spending and how it can be narrowed down. See you over there
Sorry to hear you are having bother with tickets. It all costs so much and now this added amount. Life likes to keep us on our toes.
You are doing well on the surveys.0
