Payment made today but you have to cancel 48 hours in advance! In my opinion companies should be forced to let you know if you are about to be charged.
I wouldn't touch them again with a barge pole however with my enforced extra month Im e-mailing as many as I can to warn them about this practise.
So you missed the text on the same page as where you put your card details:Your subscription will be automatically renewed at the cost of £29.99 per month. For full details about automatic renewal including how to cancel, click here
And I would hardly say it is hard to find.
Personally when i'm signing up for a service or anything ongoing I ALWAYS read and make sure I understand the charges and rules.0 -

Quick search on google and you will see there are thousands just as stupid as me.
Hey, you're the best :T0 -

I wouldn't say i'm perfect, infact far from.
But I do have the basic ability to ensure I read payment information before agreeing to services and subsequently passing them sensitive information.
And it's not always the customers fault, there are many dodgy subscription based companies out there deliberately misleading people --- but in this instance it's the fault of the customer and not the business, so it's hardly far that their reputations suffers further because of no fault of their own.
But I now understand from your reply you won't be taking any personal responsibility regarding this matter.0 -
Hi all,
New to this forum however just wanted to back up the comments about matchaffinity.com being ridiculously difficult to cancel subscriptions on.
I've received a confirmation email this evening that a 1 month trial offer will revert to automatic renewal in January after stupidly thinking it would be worth giving it a go, and should I wish to cancel I should click on "Cancel my autorenwal" on the "My Subscriptions" page and follow the on screen instructions. Upon following these instructions, the webpage merely reloads and does not cancel my membership! I've contacted customer services bvia their email system who provided the same information despite my email to them stating that the website will not let me cancel.
Is anyone else having similar issues with this ridiculous organisation? I'm keeping all copies of email correspondence sent to them as it shows my written intention to cancel well in advance of the required 48 hour minimum.
Has anyone had success in cancelling their autorenewal online?

I do, I feel very foolish and I'll certainly be more careful in future, if you think I'm the only one you are mistaken, I am using my enforced month to e-mail as many members as I can pointing this out, 'thanks for the heads up'/'wish you had messaged 2 weeks ago' were typical replies. Maybe paying by paypal I wasn't as careful as if i'd been entering card details.
Sorry but I do not think its fair that you cant cancel unless you do it 48 hours before the subscription runs out and no reminder is sent. Couldn't believe I was on the phone BEFORE my subscription ran out and couldn't cancel. They seemed very well rehearsed on their script and would not budge.
My x-box live subscription came through today with a reminder it was due and if I did nothing they would renew. Absolutely no problem with this, upfront and professional. To my mind match are trying to catch as many forgetful or naive people as they can, it maybe perfectly legal but lots of things that are wrong are.0 -
I have just had an automatic payment taken and did not receive the original email they are telling me they sent confirming that I had signed up for this, I feel like I have been taken for a ride and at the very least they should inform you that they are taking money from your account in enough time for youto cancel it if you want to. I now cannot eat this month and am really cross with them and myself for being taken for a mug
Oh and the french email replies are taking the mickey too.0 -

Did you give them the details?
Did you read the T&Cs before ticking the box 'I agree'?
[STRIKE]Good heavens, how much money have they taken from you such that you cannot eat for a month?[/STRIKE]
Sorry, misread.
Never mind, tomorrow is another month so you can start eating again.
Have you looked in your spam folder for the missing email?0 -

So in short, you're cross with them because you didn't read the terms and conditions?0
