    Actually, YOU are assuming that you would not be able to prove that you cancelled by phone as you did not do that. For all you know they might say "Thank you for cancelling. You will receive written confirmation shortly"

    But at least if I take it to the small claims court it would mean somebody would have to attend. It's in their interest to make some sort of refund for customers, even if it's a partial refund after an administration fee.

    But if there is a dispute about ringing up and cancelling then surely a judge would have to look into it.
