I bought a two-year-old high-mileage BMW from Autoquake Leeds last week for a nice price and it still has one year BMW warranty left. So far it has been well worth the 160 mile round trip.

I was impressed with the whole set up, they did exactly what it said on the tin. No hidden gotchas or anything unsavoury like that. The information pack was very helpful and a great deal of thought had gone into it. The pictures online were very detailed and didn't miss any damage out.

When we got the BMW home we noticed the reverse lights and parking sensors were intermittently not working, despite having checked them before we bought it. Autoquake booked us into our nearest Halfords service centre the very next day. In the end I decided to get it done on the BMW warranty since the fault was covered. Turned out to be a faulty switch, nothing major.

My only minor complaint was with the sales guy. My wife and I both felt he was trying to give the impression the BMW was out of warranty and we should take the Autoquake one. I pointed out there was still a year left of the BMW warranty and he left it at that. Maybe he was being or a bit sneaky or maybe it was a genuine oversight, but either way it gave a slightly negative impression.

Overall though, I would definitely use them again and recommend them. It is a very modern way of doing business and I think for a lot of older people that could take some getting used to. We simply aren't used to putting trust into car dealers upfront and quite rightly so given their reputation. But if you want to save yourself a few grand over a conventional dealer then this is the way to do it.

Well...this looks like a stooge review...or is it a parody of a stooge review...or is it a fake parody of a stooge review? We'll have to ask Jiminy about that. He wrote it, after all.

So there were no 'hidden gotchas' (nice marketing terminology - straight from the AQ training seminar, that one) (believe me, I should know) except the small fact that they tried to steal £400 from you by selling an unnecessary warranty?? Theft is just a minor point, obviously.

And if I hear one more version of the 'small problem with the lights/demister/window motor' story, I'm going to start screaming.

    Absolutely beyond parody.

    Interesting.

So I am assuming then that you have links to this company, judging by that last bracketed remark.

    Are you a former employee?

He may be a mole or a fake second-generation anti-mole, or a plant trying to look like a stooge pretending to be a new kind of mole.

    Just following the Autoquake logic.

What I typed about my experience is an honest, straight-up review. I have no ties, present or former with Autoquake other than the fact I bought a car off them last week.

I am insulted that anyone thinks I am a stooge or mole, but as a businessman myself who unfortunately has to deal with the "general public" on a daily basis, it does not surprise me.

And that sums up exactly the Autoquake attitude towards customers.

The 'businessman' (ie the car seller) can do whatever he wants - the 'general public' (ie the customers) are just an inconvenience.

How 'unfortunate' that you have to deal with them!

But how fortunate that they can share their experiences on the Internet. Remember, the Internet really does what it says on the tin. No hidden gotchas! I would recommend!

Yes how unfortunate that we businessmen have to deal with self-righteous, conspiracy-theorist and downright cynical gentlemen such as yourself. You sound like the sort who goes running to Trading Standards/the press/*insert unrealistic threat here* just to stroke your own ego or because you can't get your own childish way. Perhaps this is why you cannot comprehend that I actually had a largely positive experience of the business who's name you wish to drag through the mud?

Oh and by the way, free speech over the Internet works both ways. Fortunately most people have the sense to realise that there is always somebody who is impossible to please and lets be honest, you have only made yourself look a prat.

Again, this post is taken directly from the Autoquake training manual (not a very hefty volume).

    The customer is :

    'an inconvenience'

    'impossible to please'

    'childish'

    'a conspiracy theorist'

    'a prat'

'goes running to Trading Standards' (outrageous!! people seeking their legal rights!!)

I've heard this verbatim from the mouths of the Autoquake salesmen and seen it on the Internet many times. The same old dross, every time.

What you have to remember is that without a customer, your wonderful e-commerce "business" vanishes very quickly. Is that why you suddenly closed your Bristol and B'ham depots?? Or was it because of all these "childish" customers refusing to buy your knackered old cars??

    Just asking.
