Do I buy the iphone4 or HTC Desire HD

OK, I need some help deciding, one day I think one, then the next day the other!

I'm being given the phone for a present and can choose which I prefer - so the initial cost of the phone is out of the equation. I have a giffgaff payg sim, so won't be looking for a contract - so all I want to compare is the actual handset itself, and how well it performs.

I'd want it to;
make calls
satnav
internet browsing
email collection
photos

What's your take?

Both handsets manage that, only you can make the final decision
smartphones are customizable to suit the user, so there is not an out and out best.

I know - that's why I thought I'd ask advice from people who have them before I make my final decision.

Personally, I find the Desire HD a little too big. The 4.3 inch screen, while being great for everything you need, is very large and you can really feel the phone in your pocket.

in my case, i have this dilemma before, having been an iphone 3g user, my bias is towards iphone until this HTC Desire HD came into the picture. Having seen my wife's Iphone 4, I decided to get the HTC Desire HD for which I have no regrets. The only downside at first when I have my HTC Desire HD is the battery issue, it normally drains quicker than Iphone 4 as per my observation. So, for me, it's HTC Desire HD..

I've the standard HTC desire and wife has iPhone. I much prefer the HTC especially the downloadable Swype keyboard.

If you are going to play Storm8 games e.g. iMobsters, World War etc. then the iPhone is better due to having emoji. I use the wifes phone also when playing these games.

But if you can wait the new HTC devices are imminent.

You could always hold out till June when the new iphone and new ranges from HTC and various other android vendors come out and then make your choice.

This way if you still want these 2 phones the price would have dropped.

My preference is iPhone, having had the Desire, Desire HD, Defy and Galaxy S, just don't like the Android OS as much as ios, there is no iTunes equivalent, Double Twist doesn't come close, resale is better on the iPhone, and the ability to go to an Apple Genius for an immediate exchange for a faulty product is a great service.
