I dont see why everyone is having a go at MSL, it clearly states on their site that the tenner fee for certification is optional.

It also says that they still offer assignments to those who do not choose to pay to become certified.

    It's the principle.

We can't say to new shoppers not to pay to work, when one of the top companies by search results asks them to pay for a test and says that it aims to give 90% of their jobs to certified shoppers by the end of 2011. :(

As you say it was a long time ago and staff have changed. Maybe you should have picked the phone up and called and by now you could have been receiving regular work from a very good company like MSL. I have done 2 jobs for them just today and had to call the office regarding one and as usual they were very friendly and helpful. Much better than lots of other companies out there and you being the expert video shopper I would have thought you would have known that.

Debthater, seriously, what has Lizzie done that is so bad. She isnt advertising and telling people to pay for certification and gaining money from her link. The link to MSL surely has been posted previously but all of a sudden its wrong because someone who works for that company posts it.

Lizzie im so sorry this is the welcome you get. There are other forums such as The Office where you are more than welcome to join and post. Hopefully this wont put you off.

Agree Carol Ive been out today (as you know thanks for the help earlier :) ) and I too do a lot for MSL and do appreciate the friendly staff..

UKmonkey try calling them they have had a staff turnaround things are better switched to a new system and online very good!.

I see what your saying and part of me agrees not to pay, but I think this is different its more like joining an association (like the tests through MSPA or whatever it is)

I do think all though they say they will prefer shoppers with the testing I do think they will still go with ol' faithfuls for a lot of the work.

MSL uses allocators you know actually people who you talk to rather then just FFF

The Mexicans were set to 1 in 9 months the same as the hotels, I think the brothers are about the same as I have visited the same one about 10 months apart. You wont be able to see a mexican but you should be able to see the brothers if there are any in your area that you haven't done recently.

Is this one visit per specific restaurant or across the chain?

I did one in my area, but there are another two very close by. So hoping I can do those two at some point.

But it's the only quibble I have as I've not really worked for them.

Just starting to now but would have signed up much sooner except for this so I view it as a negative impact on their branding and that's why I mentioned it. :o

Yep, but if you don't know the company, it goes against what the general consensus on paying to work is. If you know them, then you can make a better judgement on the value of the certification process.

I'll shut up now on this tho...
