Great, a CD with no COA. Basically the same as a pirate copy, except with NO SERIAL NUMBER WHATSOEVER.

    Worth about 50p.

that really is low, basically that cd might have been nicked with it's effective identity on the machine of someone watching this thread

I just got the 'student licenced' edition of XP pro fully boxed & sealed new from ebay for just £71. I wouldn't go with this for all the reasons mentioned above!

Unless things have changed since my day there is no such thing as a 'Student' edition of XP - it's actually an 'Academic' version which is licensed for small educational establishments- not for personal home use, student or not.

Sorry - been away for the weekend.

What you get from these guys is the Academic edition with a 'reclaimed' serial number. It's printed on a sheet of A4. I was highly dubious when I opened the first one I got. The pack comes with contact details in case the serial doesn't work. Mine did, and so did the second one that I got for my Dad.

It may not be 100% legit (selling OEM disks without hardware), the website has misspellings and there are no contact details until after you buy, but you do get a working copy of Windows XP for £50. It works for me. Up to you.

Not legit at all. You might as well buy a pirate for a fiver from the bloke down the market. Wouldn't touch this with someone else's creditcard.

Shocking indeed! Such paragons of honesty here. About as legit as trying to take advantage of Tesco's price mismatch loophole and flogging the gains on eBay.

    Mods please delete.

Not that I'm in any way an expert on Tesco's policy, but I would suspect that taking 'advantage' of it is perfectly legal whereas what you are suggesting we do here is highly illegal. Not exactly rocket science to differentiate the 2 actions.

yes, no such thing as a "reclaimed" serial number, normal single user or corporate but still only to be installed on a single machine..the OP more or less admits that by saying "if the code does not work" !!

wheres the comeback if down the line Microsoft add it to their "Non Valid" serail number list and it fails WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) and you cannot do updates any more (there is also rumours of a Killswitch that will turn windows off after 30 days in the pipeline) YOU END UP PAYING AGAIN and this lot have sailed off into the sunset with your money
