Wow Gleeful, that dress is stunning! How did you manage to get such a good deal on it?!

    Ebay! An unworn sample dress.

I tried on some IS dresses in a shop, as I had my heart set on Calypso. Mum offered to buy it for me, but I couldn't justify the £2100 price tag for a dress I'd only wear for a day.

Kept my eye on ebay, and spotted the Pasha. Knowing it was my size, I took the plunge. Best thing I ever did. The dress is amazing, although it's been a real pain to match accessories as the dress is so exquisite it made a lot of things look cheap!

That is absolutely amazing :D You must be thrilled, that is a stunning dress and the price is just unbelievable!!

I have had a little look on ebay and preloved and this is definitely looking a possible option. I think I need to go and try on a few Ian Stuart dresses to get a better idea of what styles suit me and what size I would need to start with.

It is interesting you mentioned earlier about the dresses looking different to the samples/ catwalk pics as I have noticed the same thing. I saw a Masquerade on preloved a few months ago and the roses all over the bottom looked nothing like how they should do, it was really odd!

The only thing that worries me would be the cost of getting it adjusted, as I've heard that can be really expensive. Definite worth investigating though, and thanks so much for your advice- it is lovely to hear such a happy MSE story of how to get the perfect wedding dress :D

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Hi Tiara thanks I love it!! It retails at over £2k but it has been discontinued. I fell for it after seeing it on the wedding house but then to my horror found it had been discontinued. Never the less I started with those near me and then called half of all the stockists from his website but still no joy. Meanwhile had told everyone on the April 2011 brides thread and Gleeful, the wonderful human being she is, found it on eBay for me. We went to Manchester to try it on (I'm in Derby) but the lady refused to a) drop the price or b) take it off eBay. So I had to wait it out and it must have been destiny as I got it :-D but it needs major alterations so Linda from no 9 dresses has it at the mo and I can't wait to get it back me shaped!!!
Married the love of my life on 28th April 2011 :T

Tiara, quite scary as what you said about the dress is pretty much what I said about my Ian Stuart. It was my OH that convinced me to go for this beauty :)

I'm an MSE Ian Stuart bride. My brand new Pasha cost me £300. It retails at £3000 new. I'll post pics when OH is not sat next to me.

The dresses are amazing. Libertine is my favourite from the new collection. Flowerbomb I like, but it's a bit fussy and Calypso (previous collection) is similar and much better IMHO, although the actual dresses sent to brides seem different from the pictures/sample dresses if you get what I mean? I could talk about Ian Stuart dresses all day! I am totally in awe of his mastery. Keep an eye out on ebay and Preloved. For some reason loads of brand new ones pop up because of cancelled weddings!

BTW Please don't be tempted to go overseas for your dress, the chinese copies of IS dresses are rubbish, presumably because of the techniques he uses and they can't source the same fabrics and LindaatNo9 won't copy a dress for you, I can tell you that. Copyright infringement!

Wow - what a bragin!! Not sure I know Pasha will have to look it up.

As you say Flowerbomb is quite fussy and I haven't tried any dresses yet... but its the sort of princess dress I have in my head at the mo. Probably mean I'll come away with something plain and slinky! :rotfl:

Prices vary alot from retailer to retailer.

I rang every shop in a 2h radius and got my Ian Stuart dress brand new for £600 less than the highest quote.

I tried on about 30 other dresses but went back to my princess dress as nothing compared.

It was worth every penny and the quality was amazing.

Can I be nosey and ask which one you went for??? :)
  • Hi ladies,

I ordered Flowerbomb a couple of months ago. I knew as soon as I saw it in a magazine that it was the dress for me and when I put it on it was even more wonderful than I was expecting. It's a real fairytale dress and I can't wait to wear it!

I paid £3200, which I know is a lot for a dress I'll only wear for one day, but nothing else came close to it. The quality is second to none, absolutely beautiful.

With regards pricing, Ian Stuart is apparently very strict when it comes to reductions. The brand sets the prices and no discounts are allowed unless the brand says so.

    Xx

Smittenkitten-Are you sure about the reductions thing? I tried on the masquerade in a local shop and was told it cost £4k, but when I went back with my Ma to show it to her, they offered me £1k off without me even asking!
I didn't buy it in the end, but you are right, the quality and the feeling of wearing one of Ian Stuarts dresses is A MAZ ING!

If you like Masquerade, try Maggie Sottero Meredith, similar dress, without the price tag!
