Cavework, I have just obtained my license. Cost £154 for 3 years. They are NOT area-specific. If I relocated, I'd just need to inform the EA of my new address.
As for wood (and other burnables), a nice little bonfire, and hey presto, one van load of stuff reduced to a bin full of ash. This can be used as soil-improver.
Anyway, after 3 years it only costs £100 to renew for another 3 years, that is less than £1 a week.Never Knowingly Understood.

We use to burn small amounts of waste wood in a small dustbin but its against the law so the Council Jobs worth told us.
We are getting an incinerator to burn waste wood, cardboard, paper etc which conforms to all the clean air, emissions regs..
I'm sure Cynicalscot will be along shortly to label you iresponsable for burning a bonfire.....:D0 -

According to the 'law' basically everybody i know should have a 'waste carriers licence'......£££££££££££££££££!?!
Is there a self-employed trade that doesn't need one!?!
Event managers don't need a waste carriers license:D0 -

Id get one and be done with it. However I have noticed a lot of builders burning their rubbish on site and the council cant (or wont) do anything about it ...0

this is a story from my local paper where a buildwer triedto dump a load of rubbish in a farmers feild but his truck got stuck
his fine was only £100 + £250 costs , this is hardly a deterent , so if the fines are not going to fit the crime is it worth the hassle ?0 -
