have i bought a verizon iphone?

Just have a double check as I just checked my iphone (mines an American one) and it's not really obvious where the hole is.

On the top of the phone on the left-hand side you have the headphone hole, just to the right is a really tiny hole (and I mean tiny), quite easy to miss if you're not sure what you're looking for

You are looking at an iPhone 3G or 3GS

The iPhone 4 sim goes in the side

Might sound like a silly question but you say the guy reckons he tested it with his sim card, have u asked him where to locate were the sim card needs to go?

Just if he knows how to do it surely he can tell you where to put your sim or you can get him to physically show you

But that also won't matter if he show's you as an Iphone 4 uses a Micro SIM which is 15 mm × 12 mm in size while the standard SIM is 25 mm × 15 mm in size.

If you need to get a micro sim have a word with your network provider and explain that you just bought a second hand iphone 4 so need to xhange your sim card for a micro sim they should do it (not sure if it comes at a price or not though)

i do see a tiny hole nest to headphone slot which the lady with the american iphone said. is there this hole on english iphones? the hole is not on part of the phone that will slide out though. dont think this is a sim card slot as the whole left side piece would have to come out.

there id definatly not the slot shown in picture posted either.thats what i want to see

If you have an iPhone 4 and push anything into the hole on top you will damage the noise cancelling mic.

The sim slot is on the side of the iPhone 4, if you turn the phone on and type *#06# on the dialler, what happens?

EDIT to add:

There is no such thing as an "American iPhone", that post is just throwing confusion in, there is a GSM version and as of last month, a CDMA version. The GSM version is identical, no matter where in the world it is sold, from America to Australia and all points in between.

hi. the guy said when he sold it he tested it that morning with his sim. my baby just woke up then so i trusted his word, rushed him out the door and saw to the little one. in the afternoon i phoned him , he said his girlfriend tested it but no worries if i want money back let him know by tomorrow morning. this evening when im trying to get him phones off (nervous lol) but a text has been sent asking for money back and a friend of his is going to remind him for me want doe back. ........ so cant get him to ask if he really tested and how.
the box definatly says at&t but has to be a verizon as it appears they are the only ones to have their iphones without sim slot.
was thinking may be a 3gs model in iphone 4 box but looked at pics of 3gs and its not that. looks like an iphone 4 . looked at fakes too and it doesnt look like a fake ......but......... the two songs in the ipod bit are chinese with chinese writing. what have i done.
