Windows 7 Service Pack 1

..Is now available as an optional download.
Don't know what its like today, but yesterday the downloads were incredibly slow.
On my PCs it failed at the first attempt, but eventually succeeded.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

  • was about 80Mb download for me a couple of days ago (around 1Gb for the full thing) - no issues that I've noticed since installation/

Suppose I ought to look for a 7 pro upg + SP1 ISO now, make things faster when I get around to a cleanup :D

(and I'd rather d/load the complete iso, rather than full sp1 and slipstream it myself)

It obviously is not that an important update, otherwise it would automatically download and install.

    - it was an automatic / not / optional update on my 64bit last night. no probs at all, but even with 32GiG of MEM & 4 fast slugs it took nearly 30 minutes.

    - I did the same on my SSD machine it took just over 7 minutes

All, and I mean really all indexing / shadow / recycle / restore / etc is permanently off on my kit. However Win7 is still a law~unto~itself, one example with everything switched off .. .. before I back up [ to D: ] each Friday I DEL last Fridays backup from D: but the O/S still [ drive C: swells by 18GiG ( uses the same FAT )] backs the sod up to my switched off Recycle Bin.

Yeh M8, you can't rush it and I suppose each O/S re-write is going to be different [ish ] depending on what people use.

Glad I read this. I stopped it and started it again as I thought there was a problem seeing as it was taking so long.
