Hi,
I claimed back £400 from FD at the end of last year beginning of this, and I have managed to stay out of my overdraft and things, however with a bit out of work and recently having a few more outgoings than I would like I've had some incidents of me going into the excess overdraft, however only for a day, cheques coming out and things.
I was charged £25 the other month, however after having some dialogue via email I managed to get it cut down to £12.50, but they did threaten me with taking my Switch card off me if I continued to complain.
Today, I got my charges through, and two seperate charges for £25 plus the interest means £53 in charges, an absolute scandal considering that I am trying to get my finances under control, potentially pushing my overdraft over the limit again and then more charges.
Anyone any advice? What to do? I think I am going to add FD to my list of creditor's and move my account away from there, I'll just pay the overdraft off bit by bit.0 -

They WILL keep charging you regardless of anything that's happened in the past and each time you ask for charges refunded you are likely to get a less sympathetic response. If unhappy with the service open an account elsewhere, set up a s/o for a few quid each month to keep them happy and be careful writing cheques out......you can't control when they come out!0 -
FD offer a free O/D of £250 and will up it for a fee, perhaps if you keep exceeding the free OD it might pay you to get an increase and just pay once.
They will apply charges if you go outside their agreed overdraft but if you stay within it you just pay interest.0 -
Hope you can help -
I wrote to First Direct to claim my charges back, I have had a letter back saying that they are involved in legal proceedings with the OFT in relation to bank charges.
They have asked the FSA to suspend the normal timetable for dealing with back charges complaints.
basically they are fobbing me of.
What do I do now??

hi
i have reclaimed money from first direct before, however now due to circumstances i have noticed that in the past 3 mths i have been charged £220 in charges.
will i be able to claim these back as i have already claimed and with the test case ongoing?
also, £50 of these were charges for extending my o/draft temporarily (i was charged £25 at one point for a days extended o/draft) can i claim for that?
sorry for all the questions. i don't feel i will need to claim again as we have hopefully passed the struggling point, thank god!Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -

Did you sign anything to the contrary when you reclaimed before?0 -
All claims are on hold pending the outcome of the test case in January so you won't get any money for now. Worth lodging your claim anyway though so it is in there nearer the top of the list.
Good luck and glad you are past the struggling point.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Hi everyone,I hope someone can help me.I wrote to Firt Direct asking for a list of all my charges and today I received this list and it most contains charges for 'Overdraft Fees'. I am confused about what this actually means and I want to make sure these are included in what you can claim back. Please advise, thanks so much0
