What a fab thread - so many good tunes and memories....

For my first wedding in 1980 we had the usual traditional music walking in and out of the church - first dance song was Barbra Streisand's I Am A Woman In Love....and I really was on my wedding day and have no regrets about marrying my first husband. The marriage failed but we did start out in love with each other.

By the time of my second wedding in 2004, music had become much more a part of the ceremony and we are big music people so it was really important to us. We married in Windsor Guildhall - a year before Charles & Camilla and Elton John & David Furnish - which is such a fabulous venue. I walked in to Rod Stewart's version of Have I Told You Lately That |I Love You. My husband-to-be did not know what it was going to be so it was a lovely surprise as the words are so apt. I searched for ages for the right song and then suddenly heard this on the radio and knew it was right. Signed the register to Nat King Cole's Unforgettable (favourite of my husband's parents, both of whom were dead) and Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World.

Walked out to The Beatles, All You Need Is Love - fab words and very appropriate song for a wedding - all our guests commented on the choice. First dance was Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight which means so much to us.

When any of these songs come on the radio/my iPod today, they still make me feel happy and in love with my husband.

I walked down the aisle to Abba's 'I do,I do, I do, I do, I do' !! we did a sort of side to side shimmy down the aisle, me, my dad and bridesmaids - I love Muriels Wedding so just had to have this song! It was great to see everyone smiling as we came in! Signed the register to Stevie Wonder's 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours'. We walked out to Billy Idol's 'white wedding', and our first dance was Saw Doctors 'Only one girl for me'. The first dance had become tradition in our family, my sister, then my brother had both used the Saw Doctors track as their first dance and it's such a wonderful song that we chose it too. Love the Saw Doctors. We have all the songs on the I pod and I now dance around with our 2 little ones to them and it brings back wonderful memories!

Our first dance was 'Love you till the end' by The Pogues. It was used in the film PS I love you. OH is a huge Pogues fan so it made all our friends laugh that he'd managed to use a song in the wedding!

I also chose the 2nd song for me to dance with my dad to 'Isn't She Lovely' by Stevie Wonder.

I really wanted to walk down the aisle to this but was persuaded not too :(

I ended up walking down to a traditional Wedding March (Water Music Suite), we signed the register/had photo's done to a CD of DD, OH and myself singing (DD - Eternal Flame(Bangles Version)/OH - Ain't That A Kick In The Head(Robbie Version)/Me -Let's Stay Together(Al Green Version)

when me and my wife got married in the registry office my two year old daughter messed around with the cd player and somehow we ended up with send in the clowns!!

We were supposed to walk out to 'All Time Love' by Will Young but the Usher doing the music got all flustered and we ended up walking out to 'When I Fall In Love' by Ant & Dec :rotfl:

Our First Dance was to 'Faith of the Heart' by Russell Watson - and we also tweaked the lyrics slightly and had them as a reading during the ceremony.

It's a lovely song but caused some giggles from our more geeky friends as it's also the theme tune to 'Star Trek: Enterprise' :rotfl: (The tables for the wedding breakfast were named after all the Enterprise Captains too - OH's 'contribution' :rotfl:)

We had Take That "Rule the World"
For our signing the register we had Adele "Make you feel my love" and Ellie Goulding "Your Song"
We had the traditional bridal and wedding march played on harp for my entrance and our walk out.

    xx
