So, you got 10,000 Nectar points up front, even though you aren't on the eligible tariff, they are normally credited over a period of 12 months and before the 'change over'. (whatever that means?) .
You were singled out for this extra special offer then?
I have no idea, I am as puzzled as you.
I phoned the helpline & asked the girl if i would be getting them & she said she had to ask a supervisor.
When she returned she said i would as there was no point me cancelling to re register.0 -

So if you are puzzled by it, why would you promote it for other people, as if it was an eligible deal for all customers joining BG?
When, of course, its no such thing and has conditions attached and is unlikely to be economic in say 99.9% of cases.
No you are not the 0.1% as you would be far better off transferring to a dual fuel, monthly direct debit online deal than messing about with Nectars.;)0 -
I give up.
Now backfoot can put the applause emoticon up.
By the amount of posts you put up you really need to get out more.0 -

Bit rich coming from someone who statiscally outposts him by roughly 3 to 1 based on number of posts to length of time on the siteMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Eh? What applause emoticon?
I know, but I can't help it, its my contribution to the Big Society. :T
Anyway, still trying to help you, here are some facts :
For a medium user with average consumption.(Midlands area).
BG Standard Dual Fuel £1046.98- £50 Nectar= £996.98
BG Websaver 11 Dual Fuel £867.96
Saving £129.020 -
Well i'm sorry if i misled anyone, that was definitely not intentional. I thought i was being helpful.
Here's a proposal.
If you accept you got a one off lucky special mistake from BG and you can see now these Nectars aren't the best economics. You could change the title of the thread and edit your first post to explain what really happened instead of it looking like an advert.
My suggestions are:
Nectars, not as good as I first thought.
BG in Nectar error.
or more imaginatively,
MSE members rewarded with day out for good advice.:D0 -
The kind of sniping in this thread puts people off trying to help. You guys should be ashamed of the way you've treated this guy. Backfoot and Plushchris - why attack the guy? You accuse him of being a mole, call him pathethic, shoo him off with a nasty "goodbye" - for what, trying to help people save some money. If it were up to me you'd be kicked for this kind of behaviour.0

Rubbish, the information he posted is misleading. Please read the thread carefully.
The interventions made are to make sure people don't lose money.
I have invited the original poster, in a light hearted way, to alter his claims and misleading headline.
Please follow his advice, if you don't like mine, but I make no apology for getting him to reveal the full story and for explaining the the economics. If you dispute my numbers let me know.0 -

Thanks cloughja. Was beginning to think this site was only full of jumped up self opinionated wannabe mods.
I "was" only trying to help & guess what? BG are definitely the cheapest for me. Oh & the Nectar points, that only poor individuals like myself are pathetic enough to collect my wife & i Will be spending (£50 + of them) at Sainsburys tomorrow.
Oh & yes i still think my original post was true & correct at time of publishing & if the wanabe mods don't think so, why don't they report my post with a click of the appropriate button. REPORT & let the "real" mods decide.0 -

Oh dear Alan.:o
Some posters have a consistent record of helping Members. On a forum like Gas and Electricity, there are issues with complicated tariffs, complex Terms and Conditions, legal issues and so on. Significant amounts of money are involved often involving customers who don't have the means to be fooled or treated incorrectly by these faceless Utilities.
You got your Nectar points because of an error.Good for you
The point is that your initial post gives the impression that this Nectar offer is open to all BG customers on all tariffs and is a good deal.
Now that, the evidence is neither, it would have been honourable for you to accept the situation. You could modify your post and title, or at least have the good grace to recognise it in subsequent posts.
But no, you still maintain your childish attitude as shown by resurrecting the issue once again, just to have a pop at me for simply pointing out the correct facts.
Well done.:D0
