Hit a small child

Absolutely barking !!!
You hit a small child with your bike and your arguing over footpaths and bike paths.
If I had been the mother and someone did that to my child the automatic maternal streak would have kicked in and I would have given you a nice punch to the face and probably a few kicks
Common sense should have prevailed and you should have said excuse me or rung your bell. SIMPLES
Your obviously feeling GUILTY!! That child will now be scarred for life and will probably have nightmares and bad dreams about the bike man !! lol
slightly over dramaticReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -

Cycle Tracks. These are normally located away from the road, but may occasionally be found alongside footpaths or pavements. Cyclists and pedestrians may be segregated or they may share the same space (unsegregated). When using segregated tracks you MUST keep to the side intended for cyclists as the pedestrian side remains a pavement or footpath. Take care when passing pedestrians, especially children, older or disabled people, and allow them plenty of room. Always be prepared to slow down and stop if necessary. Take care near road junctions as you may have difficulty seeing other road users, who might not notice you.

You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement.RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. It's regrettable that it happens, but pedestrians and cyclists pass in close proximity to each other very regularly, and I think more so in future as there will be more shared use paths because people are scared of the road.
I don't think it's realistic to believe every time you pass close to a child you get off and push your bike.
I was hit on a residential road by a car overtaking inappropriately at 30mph a couple of months ago (my son was riding on the back). Rather painful, but I didn't smash his car up, and hardly comparable to me cycling between pedestrians at walking pace.
thats fine if you posses the skill to pass without hitting them0 -

Couldn't agree more! :T
You'd have had to drag me off him, if he'd done that to my child. Ignoramus!0 -

1. To the left
2. To the rigth
3. Ride straight throught the centre of them hitting the smallest.
You chose the option we all know was wrong.
That remark made me choke on a malteser....:rotfl:seriously, you should have stopped and waited until they had passed you.0 -

Would you be playing it down as much if you had blinded the child with your brake lever?0 -

My daughter is the most precious thing to me so I try to make sure these little things don't happen in the first place, but even if they do, I can guarantee no further violence would take place in front of her!0 -

Would you really attack another person who did this to your child?! I have a son and I personally would have stood to one side as the bike passed us, not taken up the whole pavement/cycle track or whatever it was! Yes the OP on reflection can probable see their actions where wrong, but these things happen quickly, I'm sure he meant no harm to this child.
If the Mother had attacked him or whatever, what would happen to these poor kids when she had to go to the police station?!!0 -
No mention of activating the device on a bike to alert people of your presence
i.e. the Bell !!0 -

In this instant he was to blame, although I would stepped out of the way if I saw a lunatic on a bicycle hurtling towards us. Kids have a habit of standing where they shouldn't. My maternal instinct would have set in if he'd hurt my child, and yes, I would have probably decked him.0
