well visa bills paid for the month ... not as much as i wouldve liked but all we can comfortably afford ... will update my totals shortly, oh and savings started0

totally taxi and you understand that more than most people ... i'm just so glad ( as i am sure many others including yourself is) that you are here and healthy enough to enjoy it ... hows the re-training planning going?
i'm the same as yourself, we are trying to pay out mortgage off faster, we have a long way to go but i can now feel it getting closer every month, and that feels good:) when we first took it out we took out a mortgage for 85K ( then promptly lost 25k per year income ) now its just less then half of that so it feels more manageable
I have only just started the plan but it is as follows..
Do ECDL EXTRA....just started this today
Weight loss...carry on losing
English...do course to get qualification
Maths....do course to get qualification..these will be done after ECDL
I have no experience in an office enviroment so will probably do voluntary work and I may be able to at that place get a business admin qualification..have discussed this with the centre and they say it's possible.
Get help with CV
Then hopefully get a perm job if not will try temping.
It's a good job I found MSE as we are living on about £15k a year at the moment which isn't a lot but we manage.0 -
oh i watched that one on catch up yesterday ... would love to know how the family with the kid at private school,3 cars, all those luxury holidays and eating out 3 times a week manage it all on 40k ...have to admit my heart went out to the family with the triplets ... those poor parents ... i think if i was a millionare i would help them out if they would accept it
I think the ones with a kid at private school did a fair bit of spending on cards, I would give that man with triplets his wages for the 18 months so he could go back and do his qualifications to work over here if I had it - they were a lovely family and I did feel sorry for them, hopefully life will get easier for them as the kids grow up.Mortgage OP 2025 £6750/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000
Mortgage balance: £35,463
Declutter 12/244
Money making challenge £58/400

those sound like good plans taxi from what i hear the ecdl is a great way into computing and can take you quite far ,
vountary work can be very rewarding, also very frustrating as i have found out to my cost lol ...
wow i stand in awe of your ability to make your money go as far as you can, i thought we had it hard ( when i compared ourselves to the 40k earners) but you def have that extra skill required ... i do know i couldnt manage ... we really struggled when hubby was off for those 7 months0 -

yep they mustve done the credit card shuffle ... either that or they mustve earned more than they let on ...
and yep i think i wouldve done the same for the other family, the father had a wee couple of tears when he spoke about his work ... i trully felt sorry for them, i do h ope having the kids get easier for them as they grow and i shudder when i remember how i found it with one wee one never mind 40 -
We have no choice but to manage luckily MSE has stood me in good stead0

I know what u mean there taxi , tbh if it wasn't for MSE we wouldve been shafted long ago, we had a lot more money coming into our house years ago, MSE has helped me learn how to survive on a lower budget and how to clear debt, we were earning more money but getting into debt, apart from hubby being off ( and us needing to use the visa at that time ) we've really done well with our lessons0

today i did a shopping ... the plan was to spend £200 on food for the month for the two of us, i know others can do it much cheaper and even feed more than two on much less ... but we have tried and tried and i just cant get it below £200 for the month for both of us ( tbh i really need £250-£300 to do it right) ...when i watched that money programme the people on it seemed to spend between £100 and £120 a week on food so we arnt doing too badly, but i would like to make ours work even better if i can
so anyway we sat down today and made out our shopping list it came to £43 and some pennies ... went shopping and spent £70 the extra was on things we had forgotten and on special deals that we saw whilst there half price ben and jerry's ice cream ( got 4 wont need any more for a long long time now ) got some tinned tomatoes ( they are 4 for £2 just now) fairy washing up liquid and cheese ...
but anyway thats us just got £130 for food to last us till jan 15th ,, i think its going to be tight but we will need to try and do our best
gave son his xmas present he wanted money so we gave him £100 and bought fil and mil their xmas presents £30 each so that is us bought all xmas presents for £160 which was the council tax for this month,0 -
well i got an email in today about an application form i had filled in ... they have accepted it and forwarded it for short listing ... fingers crossed it turns out to be the job of my dreams and i get it
so that leaves me with the inevitable i need to brush my hair ( get it cut etc first) and do makeup again ... is a womans work ever done:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
gonna spend a wee glory hour in my garden, no doubt just cleaning up but its a wee time in nature and that is only a good thing for me
nothing else much planned except checking the cupboards to see what is there so i can make one of these list things up ( i really dont get the hang of home making do i lol )
i think also i have decided to start another diary when it becomes month 11 of 100 ... as we will be 10% there in time ( but not in money so far) it feels like a natural progression0 -
