I am sure it will, do an online list and print it out.
Have you looked at the takeaway book yet? There is a whole thread devoted to it on oldstyle, The Takeaway secret or something like that. I thought it would be right up Mr.El's street.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

i have picked up two extra shifts this week as we need the money with hubby off of work ... but i am ensuring i dont put myself into a hole with ot...
have spent the night reading rich dad poor dad ( all finished) started tim ferris again and looked at the finances in minute detail .... i have noticed things that i hadn't previously noticed and played around with figures using ye olde method of pen paper and brain matter .... i am excited but apprehensive of this new challenge i am putting myself into ...
have decided after the summer to look for other jobs and said so to the boss when she arrived at 5am this morning .... she replied " thank goodness ... i have been saying to you for years you are wasted here .... your far too good for this place and really shouldve been outa here years ago " my reply to her was " well i work to live i dont live to work .... night shift suits my lifestyle which is why i chose it" ... she then replied " i wish i could do that " ... this woman is a few years past the retirement age and works on average 70 plus hours per week .... she rarely ever takes time off .. i have only ever known her to go on holiday once ... she has lost all of her friends due to the amount of working she does ... for years she begged pleaded bossed and cajoled me to put in for her job as she knows i am more than capable and she has wanted me to further my career ... that isnt a career to me it is a life sentance ... it highlighted to me how once again we all see different things ...0 -
well we did a shop today .... we had decided before we started this that we would do the 80p per day challenge the veggie version and add meat to the mix ... knowing it would cost us more but it would be easier as i am veggie and hubby carnivore ...
so how did it go ? well ..... hmmmm let me see lol ... ok we went to lidls first to see if it was any cheaper ... some things were but not enough to warrant driving the extra miles to get to it ( we did think this but wanted to prove it to ourselves first) we then went to Asda ( i cant stand that shop but hey ho needs must) and found it quite an eye opener ... the pricing on the list we printed out was accurate sept 2010 ( i think) we found the things that were cheaper were cheaper by 1 or 2 p max but the things that were dearer were roughly 17p or so more .. now this isnt in anyway aimed at taking down the 80p day challenge at all .. it is aimed at noticing the price differences that have been happening over the last 6 months .. what we did notice was things that we had never bought before but that i think the average person would buy maybe once a year or even less frequent like mustard powder ( i didnt even know such a thing existed till today) went up by a good bit ... the cynic in me thinks that this is because people would buy it so infrequently that they wouldnt remember how much they paid the last time .... where as tatties etc they would
things that we bought on top of what was on the list ... hubby's meat came to £26 at farmfoods ( personally for me it had to be a butcher when i ate meat... but hubby aint so fussy so) washing powder £3.98 coffee £3 butter £ 2.50 spread ( i'm going to try spread instead of butter see if we can cut down on butter consumption) 75p 2 loaves of bread £1.50 milk 89p eggs £2.05 ... i think that is it ...so todays total spend including diesel came to £95 ... next week it should be alot cheaper following the plan ... i think it is less than £20 if i remember right
and in other news ... hair has been brushed and face moisturised ... ok no make up but hey that aint too bad is it ...
and i got a washing out for the first time in ages ... it just had to be my bed sheets didnt it ... nothing better than having a good wash and climbing intbe a fresh bed with sheets that were hung out outside ... life can be so great sometimes .... simple things eh0 -
Very interesting re the price rises!
Sounds like a good shop - are you shopping for the month with weekly top ups?
Farmfoods meat.. eek... out of curiosity what did he get for £26?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
i think that is the way the plan goes squizz next week i think it is roughly £20 the week after £15 the last week £11 or something ...
for £26 he got ... 3 lots of chicken breasts... they look like genetically modified chicken to me ... no chicken could walk about normally with breasts that size ( and before i am done for slander .... allegedly genetically modified) 2 lots of gammon steaks ( unsmoked) 3 lots of bacon 2 quorn (ok that was for me so that i can have chilli one day) kid on mince things0 -
just had our first meal on the 80p a day challenge .. it was pasta funghi .... i thought hubby would want to add meat but he said no i will try it veggie style cause i doubt i will like it and will have to make something else to eat anyway ( he has never liked pasta) .... so kinda stressed and worried about it we made the meal ... it was delicious ... mr El had seconds ...
portion sizes was another concern... i had asked bob yesterday about the portion sizes ( was it yesterday or are my night shifts getting me all confused) she had explained that the portion sizes were generous ... but hubby was concerned as we are very big eaters ... so his plan was to use the portion sizes for four and just the two of us will eat it ... the recipe called for 450g of pasta ... but when i put 450g out it looked far far too much ... so i put it down to 300g .. the recipe also called for 400g of mushrooms , but we used 250 g we did use the two onions ( but then we LOVE onions) but the rest of the ingredients were for the four people ...
so its a case of so far so good0 -
Looking good so far, and if the portion sizes are there to suit, there will be no need to feel deprived in any way!

yeah your right ... gonna play about with it this week .. i'm sure there will be some meals that wont suit us but thats ok ... were trying things and seeing what we do and dont like .... this way we can tailor it to our own needs ...0
