mr El and i came up with a plan of action (after we had an arguement about my mother ) seeing as he has now decided to control his drinking he has noticed that he is a) losing weight b) feeling much better physically ( although not so much mentally) we have decided to challenge each other ... it's going to be a kinda biggest loser Elantan edition

ofcourse i am going to win:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: well a girl can dream can she not ? the thing is a friend pointed out we havnt got a prize ... so thinking caps on and ideas greatly recieved ... today we will decide how long it is going to last for etc etc

in other news ( i feel like Sir Trevor Mcdonald every time i say that :D) we are going to get two new tyres today so that should cost roughly £100 ... money we knew was coming up but was trying to avoid for as long as possible ... but cant avoid no more

Woo biggest loser challenge sounds fun! (and I'm sure you'll win) :D

Now I have a (chicken) bone to pick with you, you've got me going round looking at the price of food all the time - told Mr S off last night because he chucked the chicken packaging out before I'd had a chance to check the price :rotfl:

How about putting money for every pound lost into a sealed pot and then when you both hit target going out/away and the winner gets to choose where :D

  • Hi Elantan, have just come accross your diary. Saw you had posted on Hypnos and I just love the phrase you have in your signature, "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail". Now, I hope I am not out of order and I haven't read all of your diary but I am assuming from things I have read that your dh has a drink problem and that this can effect how you are too. Have you considered AlAnon which is a support group for families and friends or AA for your dh. My dh was murdered in 2003 but before that happened he had an issue with drink, and I empathise totally with your situation. I loved him , still do, but didn't always like his behaviour when under the influence of drink even if it was 1 lager. AlAnon was a lifeline for me, I used to take me and dd down to the weekly meeting when she was a baby. The Serenity Prayer is something I learnt during that time and it has stayed with me ever since and has helped me so many times. It goes like this, God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Anyway, elantan, your 100 month plan sounds good and keep taking a day at a time! Well done so far . PaF

hey all... dragon that is a good idea ... now to choose where i want to go lol

sorry squizz didnt meant to make you look at prices he he he ... but think of all the money you will save

positive hi and welcome ... i have tried al-anon ... for me it wasnt any use .. i know alot of people get alot from it and it is a life saver for very many people but it wasnt for me ... thanks for the idea though

i think hubby is trying to control his drinking at the end of the day but i think he also is looking at the point that he may never be in control of it so he thinks if this is the case then he will not drink ... as i am sure you are aware it is a long slow road

well it's been a kinda busy few days .. have been helping mil get some stuff done that makes life easier for her...

food wise we had bean curry the other night lovely yum yum ... although hubby wouldnt agree .. then last night it was sweetcorn fritters .. nice although for me it was a bit too floury ... but i added an egg and salt and pepper ( which made a huge difference)

hubby got up this morning and stated he had not been feeling too well since last night .. he reckoned it was to do with having no meat ... so he just had a roll with bacon and egg he feels better now .. he isnt looking forward to shepheardless pie tonight i dont think ... but i might get him to add some meat see if that helps him

his tablets dont seem to be working ... the side effects from them are much better than the last tablets ( whose side effects were unbearable) but he is having alot more "bad days"... his last three have been bad days one of which was really bad ... he felt angry but didnt know what at... just angry ... then yesterday and today it's been agitation with tiredness ... i have been trying to let him work through it but it got so bad last night that i did a kinda impromtu hypnotherapy session with him ... the difference was immense ... he felt so much better and within 20 mins fell sound asleep which i think is what he was needing ... however today he woke up agitated again ... i'm gonna leave him to try and deal with it , but if it carries on through till afternoon then i will ask him if he wants another session

in money news hubby is learning alot about money simple things like checking prices (sound familiar squizz lol) and looking at reduced sticker stuff ... so not like him lol
