I enjoy the wrapping bit :D The only thing I hate is trying to wrap non square gifts :rotfl: This year with some of the ones I have to wrap I think I'll be drinking the bottle of Cava OH is supposed to be bringing home from work chug.gif

I've managed to rehome the ebay items under the stairs....Why is it that cupboard always becomes the dumping ground? Good job I did actually as I found a binbag of pressies for DD I had forgotten about :o

The advent calender is up, and I want to collapse as I've hit 8589 steps so far and I've still got the school run to do plus all the other running around the house I do of an evening. Just about to have a drink them I'm going to have to put the rubbish out (smashed some eggs before :o ) and then I need to collect DD who will probably be bouncing as we're going to see the in-laws this weekend.

BTW, I've just heard from a friend in the USA that her town has just had 15" of snow IN ONE NIGHT  It's brought her town to a standstil apparently! I asked her to send it this way ;):rotfl::snow_laug:snow_grin:snow_laug Laters

I have decided that I've been wading through treacle for long enough, so will just jolly well snap out of it and decide that December is a month for ENERGY.

Only 3 weeks-ish to the shortest day, which helps in my head.

So I've accepted the Sewing Challenge* (going to start now while watching the re-run of 30-Something on More4), boogied the bathroom, made soup, and moved the pile of post from the left of this desk to the right.

    * This will require a mug of tea and chocolate, obviously, but only to help lynz with her vital research.

    Hi all

    Another newbie here

Ok i came home today and am disgusted with my hosue - i hate it here because it is so cluttered and messy and after reading a few posts ive decided to join fly lady.

My mian problems are (besides living in a small 2 bed flat) that my washing pile is starting to talk back to me - i can never get enough washed or dried (have a washer/drier combi thing) and if i do wash too much it ends up smellign mouldy becasue i cant dry it. My house isnt double glazed so isnt wamr enough to put airer up in night and heat never stays in to help dry them. Plu si have mould issues in the bathroom which doesnt help!!

Also i have a crazy 2 year old who insists if its not messy its nto fun basically so he untidys as i tid sort of deal. I do try in the evening when hes in bed to regain some sanity to my flat by tidying but daddy is stil awake and insists on leaving bowls, plates, packets and other disgusting stuff laying around. Not to mention we have a pet poocha nd the doggy smell in the hallway (his beds there) is driving me mad!!

So ive just joined fly lady (sites open in another window as i speak!!!) and am plannig to sort my life out!!!! Also ive got a busy DIY day tomorrow which should be interesting - ive got floor planks to pick up, a floor to lay, a room to paint and have to get all this done by myself with a screaming 2 year old, scatty jack russell and then bf home at 6 and his other son turning up at 6.30 to stay the night - yey me!!!

oh well off to sign up now

    talk soon

    love

    Sam

    WOW sammy!

    Welcome to flylady :D

I thought my house sounded like a madhouse, looks like you are up against it too! Whatever you do dont set your sights too high  crikey a room in a day on your own with pet & LO? Take everything slowly and a little job, dso that then another little job cross it off. Otherwise youll end up like headless chicken and going nowhere with it all .

Wendy- Im always greatful for any research help. Although I am fast becoming an authority on Drifters. Head up - the new Duck & Hoi sin sensation crisps are pretty foul as well ;)

Great to have you on board sammy :T and happy sewing wendy :D

And wendy :) I agree December GO GO GO! Im well up for it!!!!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

OK I'm going back into treacle mode.

I thawed a guinea fowl (get me!) that I'd got reduced to less than half price, put it in a casserole with apples, onions, bacon ends, v cheap red wine. Then decided that I'd cook bacon on the top shelf for tea. Oven door (which fell off some weeks ago, but which we thought we'd mended) simply won't open at all.

I'll leave the guinea fowl cooking until husband gets back. Perhaps we'll be able to undo the hinges.

I'd like a new cooker probably, Santa, cos although it's a pain now, it's not Christmas Eve!

    Hey ho.

wendym - I hope you sorted the oven door - how frustrating for you! My new one I realised yesterday has such a funny shelf formation that if you are roasting a chicken there is no room to fit anything else in - unless you rest it on the base of the oven, not sure that this is safe? I pity the poor woman buying our house trying to cook Christmas dinner in it.

Sammy - sounds like you have a big job on your hands! I have two toddlers (and two step sons) and an OH who believes in the cleaning fairy. I don't even have a washing line (cant just leave littles to get stuff in if it starts raining can you), and if you put stuff on the radiators the boys just pull it off and use it for their games. My WM and TD are almost always on. I have two cats (lovely, clean, mine) and two smelly dogs (who belong to my OH). I used to get really upset about the state of the house but read a passing reference to Flylady and had a look, I then joined this thread in its earlier days. I forced myself into routines - up by 6 most days with the boys, so instead of being fed up on the sofa I get the boys settled, let the dogs out, feed the animals, do nappies and dress boys, dress me, get WM on and make a cup of tea before I sit down. I have little routines like this all day which help me maintain the house in a reasonable state. I accept that whilst the boys are little there will always be a degree of mess. I also accept that if I don't do it no one else will and it only takes 24 hours for us to be back at pigsty. Getting upset or fed up about this is a waste of energy that could be used for something more positive.
Getting it de-cluttered and doing the diy stuff was harder. At 2 they just don't understand keeping out of the way or not touching wet paint. I did bursts of activity whilst they were asleep and then straight to the park when they woke up so stuff had a chance to dry. It is possible but it will take time to achieve. Baby steps are the away ahead, it is amazing just how much you can get done in fifteen minutes especially if you are not having to boy watch at the same time.
I decided early on that I would try and get the boys into a routine - so they go to bed at 7pm, I have to get the kitchen, bathroom and living room tidy, swished and swiped, DW on before I sit down. I then have the rest of the evening to do what I want most of the time, so I don't end up feeling like all I ever do is look after children and tidy up.
HTH - the support and encouragement on here help me keep on track, hopefully we can do the same for you if you want us to.

    Thanks hex

I now have a very very well-cooked guinea fowl, and an oven door that no sane person would trust (but then I'm not married to a sane person).

I'm not sure whether I go with 'It'll be fine', or grit my teeth to get something I can trust before Christmas.

    Happy weekend Flybabes!!!

Permission to swap houses with nicki please!!!!!!!

Well I threw a strop at OH yesterday so he told me to go Xmas shopping. I ran round with my list like a mad woman and did over 90% of it - just a few bits for OH and to get off the web now thank goodness. My lovely neighbour took DS so he was happy playing with his friends.

The house is a complete wreck today. We've just had the ceilings plastered in the lounge, dining room and guest bedroom and nothing is where it should be and there is dust everywhere

OH has just gone to get some carpet off-cuts for the conservatory floor as we're not putting wood flooring down until new year. Electrics, radiators and decorating still to do in there plus decorating in the dining room. I now have to give the lounge a good clean and put the furniture back, then the guest room and dining room. Wish me luck, I'd much rather be doing 'research' with Lynz and Wendy

Welcome Sammy  you sound like you've got your hands full. Some great advice from hex the gorgeous gals on here will support you all they can. Start small and build up a daily routine and before you know it you'll be in control and your home won't control you.

Penny - great to have you back on full power and LOVE your smileys :D

    Now where's that blinking hoover...

Sounds like you've all got your hands full. Big hugs to everyone, sounds like it's a lot of hard work for everyone at the mo.

Having one of those days I forgot to post my list this morning, but I am pleased as I didn't get it all done :o Managed to get the bathroom cleaned, some washing done, almost dry now I think as on airers, mid way through clearing 2 cupboards out, just waiting for them to dry so can put things back :A well I needed excuse to pop in and say hello, new dinner service and slow cooker to find homes for :T kids, DP and dog were kept fed, exercised and happy, made popcorn to go with film we were watching together, which ended up being very funny as I underestimated how much it expands and ended up chasing the stuff :rotfl:

Anyway hoepfully get more done tomorrow, will try to remember to post my list, but will also be doing something with the boys so not as much as midweek :D
One day I might be more organised...........

sounds like my oven - am tempted to roast turkey on Xmas eve this year so i dont have to try and cram every thing in the oven this year. Plus id get more time with babe then too!!

Well i managed to pick up the floor adn get it laid today too which was good - house actualyl looks alot tidier now - it was half carpeted and half blank tiles now it is totally wooden floor in the front room - very ncie and clean looking and only takes a quick sleep to tidy it up! Also rearranged living room too whilst in process and it looks alot bigger and now have space to put the tree when i pick it up on monday. (lost my one from last year - no idea where the hell it went). Also have managed to get some washign and dryign done today, got stuff on radiators (socks mainly but these should be dry soon with heating on!), my benji (2.5years) has been in bed since 7.45 - good boy that he is. his brother (5) is still up and running round like a loony
and im going to attempt to get another load of washing done and things put on radiators to dry in the night - cotbed sheets etc mainly. Sinks all done and polished too.

Goals for tomorrow are (bearing in mind i work 3 - 10pm)

    * few loads of washing done - hung in various places to dry - i have a fairly
    big airer/shower rail/big radiators in 2 rooms/sock hanger in bathroom/2
over radiator driers - bathroom radiator is on high to dry everything in
bathroom (again this is a small room)
    * piles ready to be put in (might try and get bf to put these on in the day) if
not ill put them in when i get home
    * 15 minutes tidy of front room and kitchen when i get home from work
    * 5 minute tidy of kitchen (its tiny so thats all it needs) whilst the kettle
    boils.
